What happened to Jeffield's "Replace Engine" thread?

Did Jeff request it to be taken down? Time to send Jeff an email.

EDIT: It was requested to be taken down by OP.

Just got off chatting with him. The exhaust didn't cause the issues and he doesn't think it was the tune. We talked about the oil and when Mercedes/AMG changed from 0W-40 to 5W-40. When he mentioned that, I remember back in 2000, I was talking to my SA because back then, MB started using FSS to schedule service and that the dino oil was causing sludge issues (extended use of oil due to FSS) requiring engine replacements and switched to M1 0W-40 formula. Now that is going by memory from 10+ years back so I may have missed some details.

To the oil experts out there, could it be that some of these M156 engines were fed on a 0W-40 diet most of their lives?

Jeff just brought up the point of speculation with the oil weight change after his discussion with people up in BC. That triggered a latent memory of MB's oil change in 2000. IIRC, dino was the oil of choice and then MB switched all cars to M1.

Seems like none of the mods caused the problem. He just got a defective engine. Glad he is back up and running. The pics on how they treated his car were alarming though and would have sent me on a killing spree. LOL

I would like to state categorically, unequivocally that Jeffield had no mods on his vehicle. If there are any MB personnel who come to this board feel free to contact me for verification of this as I am in his area, and can provide first hand knowledge. NO PERFORMANCE ENHANCING AND/OR POSSIBLY WARRANTY VOIDING MODS WERE EVER IN PLACE ON THAT VEHICLE.

Perhaps that is why this thread no longer exists, and any comments otherwise are merely speculation and should in no way be used as any form of "modding evidence" with regards to his claim.

Honestly, the thing that was how they left my car at my house.... Think about this my door was opened and unlocked and look at where they placed the engine...

I have valuables in my car including radar detectors and many things that can be stolen.

I leave these products in my vehicle to the dealership because I have gotten nothing but the best service from MB Service from my service advisor. My family has only driven Mercedes Vehicles since my father worked hard for his first one which was a 190E.

Just because 1 person can change the way I look at a whole brand and I was not happy. Like I have said MB Canada has treated me to events like the Las Vegas Driving Academy and it was nothing but the best. They did not treat me like the 17 year old kid I was when I went.....

But because 1 person decided to the brand collapsed in my heart.

Honestly, I think this was just a defective engine and speculating will do no use and they could not give me a better answer... But in the end the car is running great and back on the road although it took almost a year to fix as long as it's done now.

Also I took down the thread because I was having more issues with PM's and other things asking about too much personal info and what not that I have said not to talk about.

Including bashing of how I acquired the vehicle and how I treated it... which is bull**** and I am sure people here can vouch for me about how I love my vehicle and how I love to share with the community.

Also if anything seems like 604 C63 has taken the opportunity to become my lawyer so please direct everything to him!

haha kidding

Anything feel free to ask me here if I m not comfortable in sharing it to the public I will PM you the answer!

My inbox is kinda fulll..... haha

Cheers

I'm glad you are back in action. Taking the thread down was a smart decision. The last thing we need around here is another round of vendor bashing and you know it was only a matter of time until that started.

Stories like your have stopped me in my tracks as far as modding my C63. The tune is good enough for me and as you know I'm selling to get the CLS63. I will either get it with the performance package which is putting down some mean numbers or I will do another tune only setup.

Pay to play is what I hear a lot of around here but dropping 35K on a rebuild engine because MB decides not to warranty it is a bit to much pay for the amount of play you get.

cheers

Has your tune effected anything during regular maintenance at the dealership? I was thinking of getting a 2nd ecu for tuning. Cls 63 is pretty amazing! You consider the new m5?

Good luck with your sale!
