Dyno Results - MBH Headers + Kleemann Tune
So I got my headers and tune installed last week at ACGSD, however I ended up with another MBH setup instead of the originally planned MHP setup. Although clearly a quality product, the MHP headers proved too loud for my daily driving habits. James happened to have a quieter catted MBH system in stock that I went with instead. I was really looking forward to trying out the MHP setup, but I know you can't go wrong with either vendor. For the tune, Cory sent over a Kleemann file matched for the headers that James installed at the same time. The car felt great during the long drive home from SD to LA.
So in my usual fashion, I ran off to the dyno the next day to see what kind of power the setup made. Attached are my before & after dyno results, the first graph showing peak numbers, the next showing ambient conditions.
Run 3 = stock except for AFE Pro Dry filters and charcoals removed
385whp/375wtq
Run 6 = charcoals removed, AFE Pro Dry filters, MBH headers, MBH catted midpipes, Kleemann Stage 2 tune, 91 octane Chevron fuel
463whp/419wtq
Overall I am very pleased with these power results, especially given that the midpipes have 300-cell cats. Anyone have an idea how much whp that is costing me compared to catless midpipes?
Next test will be Mo's private track rental.

Where did you dyno at? I am very curious to see if I am able to hit 445-450 WHP with my K2 and X-pipe. I hit 421 and change with just K1 and "ROW" box tops with K&Ns.

you ordered a new set of MHP headers to end up installing a new set of MBH?
werent you runing with sport cats previously when you mde 470WHP? why didnt you just get a catted system from MHP?
I have an SL63 equipped with the MBH headers runing without cats. IT IS LOUD(check it out in my profile). Same loudness of the MHP headers if not louder. All that loudness is reduced when cats are installed including MHP.
I dont understand, why did you sell your previous set of MBH headers?

I always dyno at Specialty Z in Chatsworth. Great couple of guys over there and very consistent, reliable dynojet. I highly recommend them.

No, so far absolutely no pinging on the dyno nor street running 91 octane Chevron fuel.

Had I known the MHP headers would prove too loud, I would have kept my old MBH headers and simply reinstalled them on my current car rather than sell them to fund the MHP purchase.

WOW!! just hard to believe what I am reading. Got MBH headers and a previous tune which was making a killer whp and torque, then sold the car and the other stuff and ordered MHP long tube headers. In the process you decided to change the MHP and go back to MBH and also try Kleeman tune. Also went and got a newer C63 AMG in the process...
What is next? changing the exterior color of the car? I am not blaming you, I am just trying to keep up with your updates. I thought that you were solid on the MHP.
At one point I was 50%/50% on MBH and MHP but Andy gave me real disccounts and real answers with no delay, when in doubt of a product that makes a difference..
I might have to add some cats or resonators to mine, I bet mine will be as loud(I have a catless MHP LTH waiting to be install this weekend.

Andy,
^^ Same here with the 3 year old.. but couldn't you get some High flow cats installed or some silencers? I mean, you already know that all LTH are very loud without cats, I think that Andy sells an option to keep them quieter by having silencers or HFC, I am just saying...
I am the same way, I like to try myself before anything else, unfortunately there is not a single tuned or modded C63 in Tucson, the few owners wouldn't even go with me to test their stock C63 at the local track so here I am also guessing how loud the exhaust is going to be.
It is very likely that I will end up installing a set of HFCs to buffer the sound.

Well IIRC I was the first C63 on your dyno with a swappable system and we got around a 19 rwhp between test pipes and CA-legal aftermarket cats. Were my (fairly restrictive) cats the same as what xtyper got? Glad you are still in the family xtyper!

I was trying to dig up your dyno chart. It for sure is something in that range
