C63 BS at AMG Preview Night
Just got back from the event and thought I post a quick review of the car. I was hoping for a US spec version and there was one on display.
Exterior: Car looks very aggressive in person. Much better than in pictures. The track is even wider than the CLK BS, however the rear fender flares don't look as big as on my car. I guess it's due to the fact that they don't come up as far to the belt line. The rear wing actually looks good and not out of place - It's surprisingly small when you see it in person. Brakes are massive, but the rears are still one piece rotors. No strut tower braces for the front or rear.
Interior: A little disappointing. The seats are straight out of a C63 coupe, are not as snug fitting as the old seats and don't offer any adjustments for the side bolsters or lumbar support. For the bigger guys that's a blessing, but for people like me they don't offer enough lateral support, especially when the car is taken to the track. The show car didn't have rear seats and the storage shelf looked smaller than in the CLK BS. For some of you who will order the car with rear seats, leg room will be an issue other than small kids. Steering wheel is very nice, but I prefer the CLK's. There was only one carbon fiber piece on the dash, but the center console was black plastic and looked odd. In my opinion, the optional carbon package is a must.
Production will be limited, but no firm numbers yet. Same with the US pricing.
Almost forgot the best part ...... it's 19 seconds quicker around the Nordschleife than the CLK.

Correct me if I am wrong, but a CLK63 Black Series ran a 7:45 around the ring, and 19sec faster puts this car in at 7:26......that is Nissan GTR time and many other super exotics...what color did you see in person, any pics? Thanks for the investigating!!

SOrry SMP, I did see your other thread with the pics from the show, but as hhuges asked, brakes?? I thought there was a special composite, now I read carbon ceramic, did you notice the materials?

Was there last night at the C63 BS preview as well and thought the car was amazing. I'm sure with some mods tweaking you can take this car to another level. But the stance alone is just incredible.

For whatever reason, the press always confuses the two .... said the same thing about the CLK BS. No ceramic brakes. Front brakes are 2 piece composite (steel disc/aluminum hat) rears are 1 piece steel rotors.

Edit: That time is with the optional track package and aero package. Around a long track like the Nordschleife, the new Dunlop's are good for 5 - 6 sec alone

On the Dunlops they are a great tire. At Laguna after some really hard stints they were holding well and showed limited wear. The shoulders were holding well the tires were holding the right amount of heat after each session when in the pits. Grip level was consistent through-out sessions. These are one of the sharpest and best performing OEM tires I have seen in some time except for the ultra-exotics.

I was also at the Preview night last night. The BS is B****in looking just like SMP said. Definitely better then pictures! The rear carbon wing actually fits the car really nice. I was on the fence about it but not after last night. I agree with SMP on the interior black console piece looking a little outta place. I did get a chance to talk with Rob from AMG a little bit and the actual car that was there last night was a euro spec car with US spec seats in it. The easiest way to spot a Euro spec car is by the amber front markers. The euro spec cars do not have them. The US spec car will though. He did mention something about the carbon brakes. He did say that AMG was looking into and it still maybe a small possiblitity as an option. He did say that it was very small because the ABS and the breaking specs would completely change and there would have to be a lot of recalibration involved to make the carbon ceramics work correctly. The main differences between the US and Euro spec cars will the Pano roof standard on the US car because of crash testing compliance issues, the front side markers and the ILS (Intelligent Light Sytem) and the Euro Spec Recaro seats will not be on the US car. Im personally bummed about the roof but I guess a custom carbon roof will be in order then!!!

i see all this info on u.s. spec, etc., but i was just told this car is not coming to the u.s., i was trying to get one, but my dealer was told that it's not coming.

Yea thats not true. I believe the car might only be distributed to AMG Performance Centers. Don't quote me on that one but I think that might be the case. I have been talking to Fletcher Jones Newport Beach and they will be getting it.

You're right about the AMG centers, as that was what I was told. But, my dealer knows all the right folks, and he's not hearing about anyone getting one. I'll have to hear of someone taking delivery....

Everyone disagreed with me though in that thread, but I guess it's true.
Try another dealer. It's definately coming to the US. There's been US specific press releases since the car was announced in July.

The BS package deletes the PANO option. You're reading the standard option list for a regular C Coupe, that includes the PANO roof.
Just like when you order a C63 is deletes regular C Class options.

This is the case for Canada, I suspect it'll be the same thing for the US.

We'll have to see about that, because there is no delete mentioned on the order sheet and from MB themselves:

Guys,
Pricing in Europe (in CZ at current exchange rates) are at moment as follows with confirmed pricing based on codes. This is for Euro spec car and could change for US market or even Euro market but this is latest info I have. Prices include VAT at 19%
Base model 115,000 Euro
Paint - certain colors with base and then 700 Euro - 4100 Euro for designo Magno. Red is base, Obsidian Black and Iridium Silver are 700 Euro, Diamante White is 1800 Euro, and designo Magno Black and Gray are 4100 Euro
Track Package 6000 Euro
Aero Package 8000 Euro
Performance Media 2500 Euro
Carbon exterior package 6000 Euro or less if you have order Track Packge
Add Rear seat option - 2400 Euro
19" wheels - black version on car used at press and LA event - 900 Euro
I will be taking my order through a dealer in Germany mainly for service and friendship reasons as follows:
With track and CF exterior packages
19" upgraded wheels
Magno Black - might have a different color done by performance studio - TBD between now and build date
Performance Center
So as you can tell the car will be much more than in the US. But I am going to love the bucket seats which you can't get in the US
