ECU tune on trade in

Hey guys,
I'm getting ready to trade in my 2010 c63 to a nissan dealer in Dallas, TX and am concerned about whether they will know I've had my ecu tuned. I am planning on having the guys at mhp reflash it back to stock. Is this the best thing for me to do? Would they be able to know I had one even if I did this? Thanks for the help!

From what I understand, it is no unless they pull your ECU out and then they can tell if it has been tampered with. Plus, I don't see the dealer doing that at all.

I very much doubt even the MB dealer would know. There is NO way a Nissan dealer will figure it out. They're lucky if they even know where the ECU is located!

I always thought that when the dealer takes your trade in it is considered an "as-is" purchase on their part. I know we sign an odometer statement, but I don't recall ever signing anything that said I didn't modify the car in any way.

Once you trade it in they can't come back. Just trade it in. What are you trading it in for?

The Nissan dealer going to be lucky to even find the ECU much less know it's flashed. I'd leave if flashed. Scare the crap out of the next owner first time he floors it.

C63
I would leave it alone, my previous car had headers, tune, Corsa exhaust, etc..I traded that car in for a C63 and the dealer didn't even say a word, I was quite surprised actually.

Since your trading the car in to Nissan I'm assuming your buying a GT-R?

Usually those non Euro dealers will make some calls to check the auction price and will deal with the real buyer/seller of your car. As you noticed, you will seldom see those high end cars on their lot. Most probably, your car will be transferred to another MB or similar type of dealers. There is a slight possibility that it will be actually sold to an MB dealer and it can be your own dealer that knows you got some after market ECU. But that is a very very small possibility. Maybe less than one percent.

My question to you is, do you want to buy a pre-owned (second hand) C63 that has a tuned ECU? If it is for me, I will changed it back to a stock ECU or inform the buyer of the upgrade. Most probably the dealer don't care if you made some upgrade as long as they can sell you their car on their lot.
