haha i was wondering if he was selling it coz 45 is too tall =p
Canada/New England crew can probably chime in here.
I was under the impression that the rule of thumb was to stay within +/- 3% of OEM tire diameter otherwise it throws the speedo way off and could cause other issues. A 45 series tires is 3.7% and almost an inch difference in the front and 5,3% different in the rear versus OEM.
Personally, I would not use a 45 series tire unless it was very narrow and maintained the standard height. For example, a 225/40 tire is the same diameter as a 255/35 tire. Therefore, running a 225/40 rear is perfectly fine.
We are running 225/45/18's Michelins X-Ice all around and it works fine. They're a bit taller than the stock tires, but there are no clearance issues.
235/45/18's are even taller so it might be getting close.
thanks in advance
