For me, I got my car 8 years ago and back then who would have thought of having a 469hp 516 lb/ft tq car that could carry 5 people!!! And then to be able to mod the car to create an even faster beast and maintain relative reliability. I am still amazed at the amount of the tq it made at lower rpms. The pull from gear 1 thru 5 (as you mentioned) was and is still something to be revered by. I normally like turbo cars better (2 supra turbos, 3 Porsche turbos, 2 AMG turbos, GTR, Audi S4... what else) but the supercharger and its response to the throttle still impresses me. Of course my car was modified rather heavily (pulley, headers, software, exhaust) but the car in stock format was/is devastating. The 55k platform is something that still lives today- check out the W211 forum (I know you do), its one of the most popular ones here. The market for mods is abundant and reasonable too. Some of the best track times come from this engine.
Its just a great bulletproof made engine. Im not saying any of the others are not; they are all incredible in their own ways. But the 55k just has something more near dear to me. Im sure the guys in the W211 forum will agree, especially the legends who grew up with the car in its infantile stages back in 2003-2005.

I would love to spend time in a Zonda F with M120 engine. It's a piece of art.
