Tune/Header C63 vs Modded 335i
So I've been having some Vbox and roll-run fun with a local 335i lately and wow is this guy's car impressive. There seem to be a lot of non-believers on the bmw forum that say no way can his car be this fast for the mods he has. I say, "YES IT CAN". HotRod is a very standup guy and like myself, is only interested in the facts and making his car faster.

There is a lot of back and forth bantering in the thread, but several of HotRod's posts contain some good info and nice roll-run video footage. Post #204 contains our latest runs.
Enjoy.
Oh, and I'm pretty excited to see my car trapping 124+ on the vbox quarter mile runs considering I'm running full interior and 91 octane pump. With some lightweight mods, race fuel, and drag radials, I'm very anxious to see what my car does at the drag strip next month.

They are no joke...especially from a roll. I ran a fully gutted 335 with procede tune on 17lbs of boost + race gas + meth w/ full-bolt ons from 60-130 and he put about 3 cars on me.

Those are similar mods to HotRods's car. If I recall correctly he's running a JB4 tune putting out 20psi of boost, pre-cat exhaust, meth, and 200lbs weight reduction. I'm sure he'll chime in here at some point to verify this. Bottom line is his car is wicked fast, and consistently laying down 125mph quarter mile trap speeds on the vbox. I was happy just to keep up.

Engine has minimal mods, JB4/Air cleaners/Down Pipes.
Fuel is: 91 octane Chevron augmented with a coolingmist basic meth sys.
Quiet stock exhaust, stock intercooler, stock turbos.
My weight reduction definitely helps, but triple digit speeds still requires strong horsepower. Kind of like a Lotus Elise, decently quick down low...but would get killed on a roll on contest by some cars with same 0-60 times.
My boost is nothing too radical. Probably peaks at 18 psi down low, but quickly settles in the 15-16 psi range according to the graph. Here is my log from the night before, exact same setup. The dark blue line is the boost, and you can correspond them to the rpms in green line.
If I can get my car to work on the dryshot properly, we are definitely heading up to Sac really soon so I can get my 10 second pass!
It is amazing how little you have to do to the C63 to unlock all that power. I still can't believe how you can easily take a factory CTS-V. That is awesome. Can't wait to see some videos of you beating some other cars!

Best in my coupe was 6.95 seconds on a level run. (see video in my signature)
Too bad I didn't do the 2% decline trick in the 335i coupe, it will usually lower your time at least .30 seconds. The best in this car so far is 8.59 on 91 octane/meth and 7.20 sec with the dryshot. I should be able to get it in the 6's I am predicting.
I have been following Dodgers and your amazing accomplishments to the top echelons.
I am so envious of the 60' times you guys can cut at the dragstrip. All my launches are partial throttle 2nd gear launches.

It only took a couple of minutes to see who the problem was in the other forums. Congrats on taking the high road and I for one enjoy a respectful conversation with all enthusiasts regardless of what emblem is on the hood. Hang out here as often as you like!

Can you quantify how much the LSD helped your 60' times? Or is it mainly for even warm up burnouts? I ran my 11.111 at 129.4 with NT555rs...wish i could have achieved a 1.70 60' and a 10 second pass.

Hotrod what's your intake/filter setup? You said air cleaners but idk what that means. Congrats on the times very impressive. I'm going to measure 60-130 times next week. Probably will be around 10s stock.

(the best I ran with 555's was a 1.66 and that was wit stock wheels and rotors)
My car had LSD before It had headers an Dodgers car dint have a LSD till this year.
We ran better 60 Foots with Dodgers car then mine with LSD.
The only place it will help u is when doing a burnout if you have sticky tires LSD won't help.
You wanna get U 60foot down get lighter rotoros and wheels for the rear.

Interestingly enough, on the streets, with no warm up burnouts, etc, the NT555R seems to work as well or better than my NT05Rs. Not to mention they are a little big lighter as well. Perhaps the NTO5Rs will be as good, or better with lower tire pressures and a warm up burnout???
Has anyone else compared the NT555Rs vs NTO5Rs?? I know the NT05Rs are "supposed" to be better, but I just haven't seen it.
Also, do you prefer a long warmup burnout in the water, or just a quick high rpm one. Sometimes it seems like a quick dry out burnout to clean the tires, works almost as good for me.
Lightweight rotors would be nice. Are they same diameter, just thinner? Or made of a difference composition?
I'm also trying to get your cousin some helpful hints for his 335i!
My intakes consist of K&N style cone filters. One for each turbo. Nothing fancy, and probably not the best option out there, but it gets the job done for $90.
