When purchasing a used C63...
Hi folks,
So I've set my mind to purchase a used C63. I was not too impressed with the 2012 facelift, even though the interior looks superb.
Since I'm in the market for a used C63, what advice can you give me? I was thinking of buying it straight from Merc, usually more expensive but has more guarantees, am I right?
And even if I was buying it from there, how can I know if the car is in good condition? I am somewhat clueless if I am just to look at the engine!
And finally, I'm in Montreal, and so far I found a $45k that's been driven for 52kkm, 2008. <- Is that expensive?
Thank you!

Bienvenue someuser et bonne chance pour ta recherche de ta voiture, je viens d'Ottawa alors nous sommes presque voisin... lol
To answer your question, it all depends what are the options on the 2008 you are looking at? MSRP in Canada for this car starts at 63K, so if this car has no option then it means you are getting 18K off on a 52K km car... it's really up to you, but I think if you're patient enough, you could get a newer year or less mileage car for that price.

I'm in Canada as well. I bought a used 2010 with 6000kms on it full loaded except p31 for 60k$ . He showed me original bill of sale from Mercedes and it was 86k out the door all in. Price range is massive here. Good luck!

Thanks.
I called the "biggest" dealer in "North America" (they insist that they are the biggest dealer in North America which I find that hard to believe), Silver Star Montreal, the saleperson told me to wait a day or two as they might be getting some from an auction. Have to wait and see.
My other question is, the guy advised that I buy a 2 year warranty, or up to 120k, he said it's only offered for those who purchase a second-hand car. Do you guys recommend it?
And also, how can I know if the car hasn't had any major accidents or any such thing?
Thanks

I just got my 09 C63 from West Island Mercedes - seemed good to work with. $45K for an 08 with 52k kms seems a little steep. I did buy a 3 yr extended warranty, they gave me $2K off the warranty price, so I figured it was cheap insureance considering the price of some of the things that can go wrong.

Why buy from the dealer and pay GST again??? Try find something privately, make sure it still has warranty, check the service history and get extended warranty on it from the dealer for the cost of the gst...
There are tons of great private deals. Check all of Canada. It's easy to have a car shipped on train. Cost is around 1500.
Check out kijiji.ca
All the dealer is going to do is an inspection and add a heafty premium to their price. You can have this inspection done yourself on a private deal.

ummm, anyone can get extended warranty as long as there is a documented service history for the car at a Benz dealer.
If you buy a used car and it has warranty, you can extend it.. Ask SERVICE, they deal with this.. Sounds like the guys trying to make a sale or doesn't know jack ****.

I'm in the same boat and 45k is a deal as far as I'm concerned. Also, I was unaware that you had to buy the 2 year-extended warranty! (God I feel stupid) Another question, if I or him for that matter were to go out and buy a 2010 let's say, that was sold new in September of 2009. This does mean that the factory warranty is still good until 2013, even if one buys it outside of a Merc dealer. Also, does the car have to be serviced at the dealership it was bought at if it's still under Factory warranty?

Take it to either a dealer (not the current owner's dealer) or a good indy shop with MBZ certified techs for a PPI. A clean carfax and all maintenance records. Other than the thing eats rear tires and front brakes I've heard of no recurring defects. I'm not sure about Canada, but in the US if the car is certified preowned you can also buy the factory extended warranty. In Cali the original owner can buy the factory extended warranty anytime prior to the base warranty expiring. Of course they don't tell you that. Factory extended warranties are of value (even though they don't cover as much as the base warranty) if something really bad happens (like on my C55 new tranny, drive shaft, rear end) and when you go to sell the car with some warranty left on it.
