So we all know that this mighty thing eats up rear tires pretty fast. That aside, I have noticed that regardless of the tire brands, it seems that both lateral and straightline traction is substantially reduced when the tire still has reasonable amount of thread left on it. This I would notice in other cars when the thread wear indicators are well worn. In the C it seems to start prematurely.

Yeah, these cars don't have good traction. Maybe try a stickier tire. I hear that helps.

You definitely should try wider tires. 275?

I know members on this board do run 275 width on the stock, rear wheels, but is that preferable?

I definitely find them a lot more preferable to the stock 255's. On the stock rims, the tires will have a slight ballon effect. That's the tradeoff for better traction.
