Good Luck! It would be nice if you reported back in detail what they did and what was involved...I am sure it will all be ok.

Actually, now that I've thought about it a bit my gauge cluster makes a rattle every now and again which goes away by me gently pressing on the plastic.

I have this too. Not sure what it is. It goes away after a few mintues of blowing air.

It sounds like we all have the same basic rattles. These rattles started the day i picked up the car.

bring it to dealer or you can change it yourself, it's your A/C filter gone south

Here's a previous discussion about it
Has anyone ever changed out their cabin filter

"Under the Knife"......Ha ha ha....but I guess that's what it amounts to isn't it!
My "issue" is not so much a "rattle", but a "buzzing" sort of "vibration" which occurs only on certain types of road surfaces, & I suppose when cruising at around 100KPH (60MPH)
So, it's not a rattle, but more of a vibration.....like something "just" touching something else....and making a "noise" whilst doing so....and yes, it comes from the centre dash area in the vicinity of the A/C vents & GPS etc screen.
I'll be interested to know how you go.
Cheers, Pickles.

It is a known issue with the C-class. Changing out the filter only helped for a brief time. This tends to happen mainly to those of us in humid climates. The dealer can do more extensive stuff to the A/C system to help the smell but I was close to turning my car in at the end of the lease and never pursued it.

There is a blind area in the A/C system where water can collect and bacteria can grow.

Looks like the biggest problem as discussed on another thread is the head bolt issue on all early 63 motors including some built into 2010. Seems that MBZ got a bad bunch of headbolts from a supplier that fail causing the head gasket to fail. This is an expensive repair proposition if you're out of warranty.

Just dropped off to MB my 2012 C63 Coupe for rattling and buzzing noise in the dashboard. Let's see what they can do. I will keep you posted.

Dropping my car as well.
3 different cabin noises.
1- Buzzing around the steering wheel (like the lane keeping assist but much lower and without the vibration)
2-cracking in the center console.
3-cracking/ rattle originating from the back of the cabin...not sure if it is the cover of the speakers or somewhere near the roof...
pretty annoying all that.

Got new tires to have installed (after I do a photo shoot with burnouts) so I figure I'll have the dealership look at the noises I have as well.

1. Rattling from the rear sunshade
2. Buzzing from the front, dash speaker cover
3. Chirping from driver's side mirror probably due to excess vibration.

I, too, will report back afterward.

How were you able to discover that you had an exhaust leak from the header?

I took a ride with the service manager at mercedes, and he heard the rattle from the rear, and the two rattles from the dash and speedo. They are also looking at my brakes as they squeal at low speeds. They are working on it as we speak and they had to keep the car over night.

I was confident they can fix the issue but when i dropped my car off I overheard another customer complaining about his cls63 dash rattling more now since the dealership touched it.

In any case I'll let everyone know the outcome!

1. low speed brake squeal
2. squeaking from center console near the temperature *****
3. occasional clunking from the rear (this one i'm actually worried about)

Will have dealer take a look next week...

Ok got my car back and it seems they eliminated the rattling noise from the dash/a/c area. The speedo still makes a noise or two but its better. I'm a little upset that the noise in the right rear was not fixed, still very annoying but its slightly better.

I might have to go back, if anyone is interested in what the service tech did I can upload my service form.

I also noticed they fixed the squeaking from the brakes at low speeds, turns out it was the front pads.

Someone posted that the noise in the back resulted from a faulty shock.

The rear squeak sounds more like something from the rear brake light or speaker, but then again what do i know?

Thanks for the feedback.....yes, it would be good to know how your noise in the dash area was resolved/eliminated.
Thanks, Pickles.

My car is in on Monday to fix this same (or similar) issue. If you could post details it would be appreciated!

Seems like we all have the same common issues...rear squeak, dash rattle, breaks...I took my car earlier this year and they fixed the breaks by cleaning them but the noise came back at low speeds..will try to put helpful comments after I get it back from dealer next week. I'm hoping by now dealers have a lot of service notes on these common minor but rater annoying issues

Is this failure common, or one of those things that are magnified because we are on an internet forum?
