Couldn't just about any muffler manufacturer work? I mean couldn't a Borla or Magnaflow muffler also work?

I wouldn't think a Magnaflow in exchange for OEM C63 mufflers would change the exhaust tone that much, if all other OEM exhaust components remained the same.

I was wondering this too... If another muffler will change the tone much?

But, is your exhaust essentially a OEM system with cutouts? So, it's stock but you have valves that can bypass the mufflers? Or is it something different?

Guys I'm going to do a 3' stainless from the manifold all the way back ( no cats ) and in place of the factory resonator I'm going to put a magnaflow dual in/outs with an intergrated X pipe in the muffler, then 3' again all the all the way to the factory mufflers. I'll keep you posted with pics.

Sounds really cool. Yes, definitely update.

You should pick up some good power and also drop some weight.

Reason for the muffler in the rear ( where the factory resonator is ) is mostly due to the fact that the minute you remove all the cats this car gets very very loud and a major ( rasp that sounds out of tune ). This stainless magnaflow with quite down the car and improve the tone with the integrated X pipe, hence toning down the car a bit w/out any restriction. Can anyone chime in here and advise the HP gain for removing all the cats. I have an OE tune that will allow me to take them all off. I'd just like to know what kind of HP numbers am I looking to gain from this mod.

Thanks

Take a look at the Dynomax VT mufflers guys.

I was planning on putting them on my S, but alas they are too big for the area under my car

You would need to remove the CEL from the ECU and maybe retune...

Absolutely, I was thinking the same thing.
