Obviously everyone is aware of the several different stages of tune (power) in which this engine is produced, relative to different models.
Has anyone ever discoved what are the actual differences, engine to engine, & whether any of these O.E. parts can be purchased, to increase engine performance of the lesser powered versions?

^^ What he said. The ECU is the main factor here, it controls timing, fuel, throtle body aperture and other parameters. The M156 on the C63 is greatly detuned.
