Maserati Gran Tourismo or Black Series? Same price!
I was out and about and I heard a lucky guy driving in a small downtown-like area of a city with a Maserati Gran Tourismo and the thing sounded like a Catless LT C63 with some Ferrari Raspy-ness and it sounded and looked AMAZING!!! The car had a deep growl from stop light to stop light with a after sound of the high pitched rasp of a Ferrari at high idle....it was a head turner. AND...AND it is an EXOTIC.
It's about the same price as a BS!!!
Which would you rather?????!!!!!

I recently saw a Gran Tourismo up close and personal for the first time. Not the current version. No idea what year, but it had a wonderful, graceful, sensuous, timeless look to it. Parked. Sitting still. Engine off. The car exuded, "Drive me. Drive me hard." It was green. Normally I run away from green cars. This particular dark green metallic paint was perfect. One of the very cars that I have seen parked that I would take in a heartbeat. The fact that it was parked next to a BMW X6 made it look that much better. Obviously I am prejudiced. If you can get it properly serviced nearby, go for it. A geniunely stunning automobile.

Very tough choice BUT I would probably go with the Black Series; it's a better all around performer and is just as exclusive in my mind given it's Black Series label.
Maserati's are notoriously unreliable and expensive to maintain...hence the atrocious depreciation that's probably even worse than what most AMG owners are used to.

I have posted this before asd I had the same dilemma before I went through with the confirmed order of my Black Series, luckily I had the opportunity to drive a 2011 Gran Turismo S in October and was so looking forward to it, boy was I dissappointed, yes it is stunning to look at, the interior was beautiful, everything about this car made me want to love it.....but I didnt, driving this car was dissappointing, it did not give me that "get out of my way" with the AMG 6.2 powerplant, it felt torque less, it didnt have that thrilling feeling...I realized I have been spoiled for the last three years with the AMG big V8 and will probably have issues with all car choices in the future....hence the Black Series order. In fact, when I left the dealer in my 2008 C63 and matted the throttle, this brought the smile on my face, the Gran Tursimo S didnt. Too bad, I really really wanted to love this Italian exotic.

The black series would out perform it, but not by much. Regardless, it's still a Mercedes. Maserati is much rarer of a car. You don't see too many of those on the road. Seems to lean more towards luxury and elegance where as the BS leans more towards performance. Just my two cents. It is a tough choice either way. Weigh out the pros and cons on paper and see where that leads you.

OK, so reality sucks, hey? The Maserati is still a head turner. Or was it the terrible looknig X6 that made the Maserati look so good? I'm happy with our GLK. Grinning.

The Maserati is a great looking car....NO DOUBT, in fact,it's absolutely beautiful......BUT, it's performance is not up to it's looks.
It needs a bigger, more powerful, torquier engine, to match its looks,......until it gets that.....it would not be on my list.
Cheers, Pickles.

Yeah yeah yeah....all that about outstanding white knuckle performance when you are beating the snot out of a car holding on to your life insurance policy with a 6.2L that is a beast but the sound of the Maserati is intoxicating!!! It sounded beefy, sharp yet girthy, raspy and deep...
Plus all the Carbon fiber, the shape and the interior...its a true sports car by every definition and legacy.
I know the C63 BS will be a beast, but in that price range this car will turn heads, get you from A to B with the hairs on your arms standing up and put a smile on your face with that engine and performance. Plus that exotic-ness!
Yes I know the Maserati has a 4.7 L V8 engine but still, that SOUND!!!

There is a large portion of car buying that has to do with curbside appeal and sound, along side a long legacy of sports cars. I mean I know the C63BS has the numbers but thats only on the track. Most people don't even touch a track in these cars. I'm talking price range, looks, beauty, sound, interior...
Being devils advocate. I guess I am still bothered about spending $130K on a C63BS when you can have a handful of other cars in the same range...

I feel the same way..but for the V8 Vantage...sounds horny as hell and looks incredible....but lacking that grunt...i would still be happy with one as a cruiser...plus its an Aston Martin!

Oh yeah, gotta agree. I mean to just have one as a town car would be insane...

If the price included the six girls I'd get what ever car they were selling. Otherwise the Black Series hands down.

The Maserati's interior looks pretty bad (the not good kind of bad) and it doesn't perform as well as the AMG.
I'm with Callmiro, though. The Aston Martin wouldn't be nearly as quick, but for those looks, it would be OK.

Aston Martin makes the best looking coupes hands-down. It's not even close IMO...V12 Vantage is a sight to behold! That said, I wouldn't cross shop it with a BS; I'd get it with the sole purpose of being a gorgeous GT.

2009 C63
I went through this before buying the C63. Had my eye on a beautiful Maserati GT, but simply couldn't see it as a DD which is what I wanted. As for the BS I can't see spending all those $$$ for a car that has pretty much the same HP as my tuned C63. I think it's overpriced for what it is, but to each his own.
