Motorized License Plate Holder
I purchased a Swift Motorsports Motorized License Plate Holder. Basically you mount it under the front bumper and connect it to the battery. I had it installed on my c300. Im having trouble since the battery is in the trunk and the wires are not long enough. I contacted Swift Motorsports but they are about 3 hours away from where I live and it doesn't seem worth the drive. Any recommendations for installation?

Is your car a C63 or a C-Class? If it's a C-Class Diesel, the battery is in the trunk.
This probably should have been posted under the W204/C-Class forum.

Its a c63 and it fits all cars as i was told. You can install it under the bumper or some more experienced shops can cut a piece out of the mesh under the grill and do it there so u dont lose it when u hit a bump

If you look on the passenger side of your engine bay- you should see a black plastic "box" near the firewall. It should have 3 metal clips that can be popped off. The "box" can then be removed exposing the battery.

Thats where it is in the c300 not the c63. We have it in the trunk. I just thought maybe there was a small battery somewhere near the engine

Here is a pic of the positive battery terminal in the engine compartment of my C63. I have circled it in red and it has a red tab on the top of the cover that slides back to expose the terminal for a booster cable connection. The cover is hinged at the rear and there is a tab at the front. Push the tab at the front of the cover to the rear and lift and the cover will flip open revealing several terminal connections that you can use to get a 12V battery power source. After that you are on your own as I have not researched using any of the terminals as an auxiliary power supply/source.

i wanted to get one of these too since tri-state area's police dept's are the worst on front plates, but i did not find a place that i can get it right, w/o it looking like a dog chewed on it after a year, under the car is not good imo, since our cars are pretty low to begin with, i was thinking of somehow getting it to fit in front of the radiator and cutting out a small rectangle in the bottom grill and having it flip out, but i don't want the grill to look funny either

Your battery should be under the black bean-shaped plastic "box" right behind that red cover. Look towards the firewall and you'll se the 3 clips. It pops right out.

The battery in a C63 is in the trunk! The ECU is under that air circulation cover you are referring to. You will also see that the location of the battery is mentioned in the first post.
