Mercedes Benz's Intelligent light with Adaptive High Beams Vs Others

How does the intelligent light with adaptive high beam assist compare to other manufacturers that have have auto high beams dip when it senses light and go back up when the light source passes?

At least on my car it tends to lag a bit but I still love the feature nonetheless. It doesn't always want to turn on do to street lights and especially in residential areas where people have well lit yards, their lights stop the high-beams from turning on. Other than that there's maybe a 5-10 sec delay for the lights to turn back on when a car passes.

Mine doesn't seem to have that delay. The high beams adjust even if an approaching car is way off and even at the periphery. I agree with the neighborhood lights comment though. High beams don't come on even with just a few street lamps or yard lights on.

So you're still able to see, right? The video on Youtube shows the lights dimming but you also can't seem to see anything when they dim. Is the transition smooth?

I can see great, I have no lag, and the transition is super smooth....light intensity does not seem to change, only the aim.

Yes
Can you turn that off? Ie you're driving in a neighborhood, need the high beams anyway.

Of course you can, just instead of leaving the high beams lever on, leave it in the normal position. If you want to turn on high beams but the car wont let you due to the auto-system, take the lights off of "auto" and then the high beams will work.

If I am not mistaken, it is also speed dependent. Maybe it is one of the reason why it is off in the neighborhood.
