Oil temp

Hi guys

Last weekend i took my 2012 C63 Coupe out on the track for the first time and sadly It was a disapointing experience the engine oil temp was reaching 120 after just the first lap! And half way into the second lap it hits 137 and the computer seems to go into panic mode and practically stops the car.

I'll be taking the car to the dealer today to see what the issue might be and wanted to share my experience with you guys and if anyone had the same thing happen to him and can help me.

What could be the issue?

Thanks in advance.

just wanted to give you guys an update on the issue i was facing and if there is anyone who can tell me what to do.... because honestly im shocked at the reply i got from my dealer...

first few days i was told that they can see that the car has gone into as they called it "limp" mode and that happens when the engine oil heats up. no one knows what the couse is and that there "AMG specialist" is out of town and when hes back he will look into your matter.

a few days later i was told that they had to email AMG and wait for a reply before they do anything to the car. This morning I get a phone call from the dealer and he explained that this is a known issue and that AMG is working on a solution to this problem... I asked him to send me an email in writing and well this is what i was told:

"AMG is aware of this complaint and is currently working on a solution which is in the test phase right now.

We will call you in as soon we received the information from AMG that the tested modification

is successful and fully solve the oil temperature issue.

We checked the condition of your car and couldn’t find any mechanical damage as a result of the increased engine oil temperature.

The engine power output is reduced by the engine control module when the oil temperature reaches 135*C or higher. This is a protective measure prior any overheating damages will occur.

The functionality is working as it is designed and has properly worked out and protect the engine.

You will not face any engine performance or engine live time draw backs due to this matter."

i honestly am not sure what to do. this is seriously disappointing.

I'm guessing the engine oil level was checked via dipstick? There have been some faulty oil temperature gauges...what codes were thrown other than limp?

Keep us in the loop... this would be a big problem for many... having said that, this is the first report I think I have seen here and lots of people track their cars. Anyway, good luck and please update the thread as you know more.
