Thumbs down CEL - help me.....

I am not sure what's going on, but this engine light thing never goes away. System running lean, trip to the dealer, coming back etc etc. Once it was a gasket, after they've replaced mafs, purge valve and did 100 diagnostics. Now, it's on again for almost 2 moths, firstly to was going away for couple of days, but always coming back. Took it to the dealer and they said there was a purge valve. They fixed it at my expense since car is no longer on the warranty. It came back this afternoon again. Obviously, I am pissed at MB, AMG, but I need some cool headed advise - WHAT TO DO?

TIA

Hook up a diagnostics computer through the OBDII port and see what codes you pull up.

I think if you google purge valve and mbworld, there is some history of purge valve issues.

I had similar issue, but I have a Kleeman tune and headers. Codes read lean left and right bank. I removed the K&N air filters, put stock filters back in, cleared codes and seems to have worked. CEL been out for hundred miles so far.

Was the intake manifold gasket replaced?

There is a new part number for the purge valve, as the original one wasn't manufactured to spec. If your IM gasket was replaced and so was the valve, then maybe they used the old spec valve again?

If the gasket was not replaced, it might still be leaking. I had the same problem for 2 months.

Get them to check it again. It might be leaking again then. Its simple to check, they spray a flammable fluid around it and check the idle.

You don't think that the dealer has done that already? I mean, I have a OBD II diagnostic tool which is very handy but it would make no sense to me for the dealer to not use it on their diagnostic

I dont think he read it completely.. Like me I just scanned through it, posted, then realized after he noted the code as running lean...
