I looked into this a while back. Using lights in auto or manual the cornering light function works regardless. I checked with the dealer I bought the car from and he seemed pretty confident in stating that as this is a safety feature it cannot be programmed off. The only solution, such as it is, is to turn the front fog lights on which here in Australia is not a solution as it is illegal to use fog lights in clear conditions
