COMAND exterior screen removal
I have searched the forums with no luck. I just got my 2010 C63 (pics to come!) and have identified a rattle when the dash screen is open. One question I have for the guys who have taken it apart...how do you take the top screen off the tracks? I need to put felt on a couple places but it moves to fast for me to do it. Need to take the top off to do it but don't want to break any plastic. Thanks!

Wouldn’t a 2010 model still be under warranty?
If so, why risk breaking something, take it to a MB dealer and let them fix the rattle ‘no charge’.

Yes, I still have 34months of warranty left but I have had little luck in the past with dealerships fixing issues like this. I had a noise from my headliner in my old car (S4) and after 4 separate visits I finally took it down and fixed it myself. Maybe the MB guys will be different but I know where this one is coming from.

I have the same rattle coming from the same area. I took a MB tech for ride and showed him. I commented that this seems to be quite a common problem with these cars and that he must have seen and fixed this before - he replied "no". I didn't leave the car for them to try and fix.

Not sure if this is the same rattle but I have one from the Nav screen too (also a 2010). This is only when the screen is up and is more of a vibration/resonance only heard over rougher/corrugated roads. I have found that if you adjust the angle of the screen using the button on the left it goes away. It also seems to get better when the dash has been in the sun for a while.
It has never been that much of an issue so I have not bothered to mention it to the dealer. I do tend to agree with others that if the dealer has not heard of it/there is no known "fix" then I would not have them having a crack at it on your car.
To help with your question though I suspect if you disconnect the power with the screen in the up position it will stay there and you will be able to work out what is going on.

I have figured out it is smart enough to stop the lid in the middle if you force it. Basically you let the lid get to where you want then hold it. It won't "Grind My Gears" (for those Family Guy viewers) of the lid, just stop. I have since placed some felt pads in different places but have yet to find the issue...

Definitely take it to the dealer, if they break it, it's under warranty. If you break it, by trying to fix it, then you pay for it.
