2009 C63 p30 brake pads and rotors
Hi Everyone,
So my C63 needs new pads and rotors, do any you have recommendations of websites to purchase from? I'd like to get more affordable pads and brakes compared to OEM ones.
Also, would a set of pads and rotors that are for the non-p30 models fit in my p30 c63?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Michael

You don't need new rotors. If there is no pulsing, then just throw in new pads.
I have Porterfeild RS4 on mine from foryourmercedes.com
They have been working great and cost about 425 shipped.

Merc63: do you mean pulsating when I brake hard? I don't feel anything at the moment, but there's a slight lip around the rotors now, my mechanic said they probably need to be changed soon, but he could be wrong..

I would highly recommend checking out www.rockauto.com as their prices are very reasonable.

Yep that lip is completely normal. That is where I took my brand new measurement, then compared to the wear depth with the calipers.. Was 1mm. The new pads wont hit that lip, they sit exactly where the old OEM pads did... So don't worry about that lip at all.
Just throw on new pads from that site I gave you, they will work great. Save yourself a few thousand $$ too instead of throwing away good rotors..
PS, if those are the two piece rotors and you are going to throw them away let me know, ill take them

Greetings Michael,
Yes the non P30 rotors will fit your P30 C63, but like most have stated it is in your best interest to measure your current rotors so that you are not simply throwing money or your 2 pc rotors away.
Here are the specs:
Front:
Non P30 is 33.4mm Wear Limit, Wear Limit for Maintance Service is 34mm
P30 is 33mm Wear Limit, Wear Limit for Maintance Service is 33.5mm
Rear:
Is 24mm Wear Limit, Wear Limit for Maintance Service is 24.5mm
As for pads it really depends on what you are looking for, we like to recommend the Endless MX72, but the Porterfield RS4's are another great option, give me a call if you need any advise.

Merc63:This is what my rotors look like like now, I've never measured rotors before, whats the easiest way to do that?
James: are you sure a non-p30 rotor would fit? I would think the original calipers would be too big or in the wrong position for the non-p30 rotors? Im guessing the non-p30 pads would not fit the original calipers either?...

You need a caliper.
you need something that will stick out further then that lip on the rotor. So use either two washers or maybe two coins. Make sure whatever you use sticks out further then that lip on the rotor when placed flat on it.
So take your two washers place one on each side of the rotor, then measure with your caliper the distance between each of them. This will give you the thickness of the rotors, PLUS two washers.
Take the two washers and measure how thick they are.
Minus these two numbers will give you the thickness of the rotors. You could also measure the thickness they came new by measuring the lip around the rotor...
The min thickness's are above... If the fronts are 33.5mm or less you will need to change them for P30.
Mine were roughly (front) 36mm new and after 50k km they were worn down to 35mm.. So I still have about another 1mm left on them...
I hope this helps and saves ya some $$$. LMK if you got anymore questions. Support one of the forum vendors if you ya do this and order pads from them
