So I have 10mm spacers, 275s, and it's lowered, when I have a passenger in the car, the rear tires rub on bumps, and hard turns.

Any other resolution than going with smaller tires or higher stance? Anyone ever roll their fenders? What type of shop would do something like that?

btw, the rubbing seems to be from the outside of the tire.

take the spacers out
i had 8mm in the back with 275's and they rubbed as well.
Which specific 275's do you have?
as they can differ as much as 8mm on the wall width.
how close are you to the inside brake line in the back?
can you go down to a 5mm?

actually, now that you mention it. ive always wondered what rolling the fenders ment? one of those small details ive never looked into?

You can rent a eastwood roller online for like 40 bucks. Just heat it up to warm and roll slowly. It's pretty easy to use.

I have ~1 inch drop with 265s. With 4 passengers I don't rub unless it's a steep angle, which I'll rub driving solo at full compression (inner edge) anyways. Gonna try 5mm spacers first and I'll let you know

i have heard some horror stories of paint chipping on our cars when you roll it.
i could not find a single shop here in cali that would do it with a warranty that if the paint chips when they roll they had to pay to fix it.

blah, what do all you with aggressive offsets do? Deal with the rubbing? I'm really liking the look, and want to keep the spacers

I have dunlup direzza's for the rear wheels, need to change them really soon anyways.

If you have wide tires like Michellin or Continental it will rub, especially with 275's.
I would recommend speaking with Bastolli Autobody about rolling your fenders. He's very experienced and has worked on numerous M's and AMG's.

A quick question about the 275s. Do they rub when the car is NOT lowered at stock settings?

balthaser, I had 275s with a drop before I put the spacers on, no issues at all.



cellryuu, it's when they fold in the inner part of the fender (no visable from the outside), that's where the tires rub, there's vids of it online.

No, they will not rub.

No problem.
The only time I rub is when I hit a large dip on the FWY or something but other then that I have no rubbing at all.

I had the same issue when I installed 10mm spacers in the back with 275 Pzero Pirellis.
I removed the spacers and put them on with my winter setup - Hankook Icebar 265/35/18 and I have no rubbing issues whatsoever.

I will have to order new tires for the summer - OEM 255/30/19 - if I want to keep the spacers. Otherwise they will rub.

I also have 15mm spacers for the front on the way

Please don't go back to a 255 rear!!! The car begs for so much more and it wouldn't be worth the sacrifice for spacers IMO. Wasting function for a tiny bit of form

Besides, a 275 tire is 20mm wider than a 255 (10mm on each side) so even with a 255 and a 10mm spacer, wouldn't the smaller tire and a 10mm spacer have the same "fitment" as a 275 and no 10mm spacer. If not I bet it would be close and the drop in traction would be SO not worth it IMO.

So just to clarify, you run 265/35 with 10mm spacers and there's no rubbing issues?

I'm contemplating getting some 265/40's, they're narrower but more side wall (to fill the gap) hope that won't rub

I’ve had my rears rolled and unless you looked under the fender, I’d challenge anyone to notice they’ve been done.

Most of my cars have been rolled and I’ve never had any problems with the paint cracking.

If you do it in the first year or so while the paint is still new and soft, it’s unlikely to crack unless you have a butcher do the job for you.

Every car I own has the rear fenders rolled - no problems.
OP, in MB's the rear fenders are already pretty flat. You gain a little by rolling, but not a lot. You may also have to grind the seam between the rear quarter panel and fender. Take a look under there and you'll see.

It should be noted that rubbing due to tyre/rim width is also occurring around the area I’ve circled. Rolling the fender alone will not change this.







They were gently rolled with a machine here in Sydney so I can’t help you out in Miami.
There was no paint cracking or blemishes and no distortion of the metal, it's a very neat and smooth job.
The fellow had rolled many a MB and other high end cars with success so it pays to check out their credentials before letting anyone near it.

One thing I should say, I am always aware something can go wrong and in my case if it didn’t work out, I was prepared to send the car to a body shop for repairs if needed.

I have a pair of 265/35 Michilen's that have like 500 miles on them (wanted 275's) so I'll just slap those on for a temporary resolution and roll the fenders when I get time.

What is the best way to grind down this area? I am rubbing at the front fender/bumper seam and need to get this knocked down. Fenders are already rolled and this is the only area still hitting. Would dremel tool do the job?
