Guys I want to start using Royal Purple HPS but they dont have 0W40 they only have 10W40, and they have the 5W40 on the normal Oil from royal purple! So is it ok to use 10W40 from our original 0W40? and by the way we have very hot climate here in the middle east, but at the moment its quiet cold we're reaching 10C as lowest tepmrature! please help me out with this issue because i really want to use Royal purple as i heard its a very good well recomended oil special for hard driving!

Mobil 1 = hard driving. With regular changes every 5000/7000Kms, very hard driving 5000Kms and your very hot climate will be fine.

Royal Purple is garbage for a C63.

Oh,oh, here we go again with the oil thing. People swear by Royal Purple and other oils as well.I myself have used Mobil 1 for ever and have had no problems, Mercedes and Porsche have developed and tested their powerplants with Mobil 1 in the harshest enviroments as well as the engine test stands.

Everyone will have an "opinion" here.......and they'll probably all be pretty much correct, because most recognized "brand" oils, Mobil, Castrol or whatever are pretty good.

BMW recommends Castrol while MBZ and Porsche use Mobil 1. Doesn't matter what brand you get, as long as the viscosity is what you are looking for?

AMG aswell as DTM, don't use Royal Purple, they use Mobil 1.

Royal Purple has additives that hurt the C63's engine in short term use.

Id stick with Mobile 1. You will be fine. These engines are designed around it.. MB puts a lot of $$$$$$$$$$$$ into RD.

When it comes to oil brand matters very little. Its viscosity and certifications that matter.
0W40 will provide better hot and cold operating performance than 10W40. If Royal Purple doesn't meet all the recommended MB certifications avoid it.

thanks guys! i appreciate your replies, but i seriously thought royal purple was a good oil because of its synrelc in the oil, also heard provides better performance! so nobody ever tried it on the 63 engines??

Good afternoon Mohammed,

For your 2009 Mercedes AMG C63 the Royal Purple oil with the absolute best protection and performance is Royal Purple XPR 10W-40 (part #01021, quart bottle). Even though this is our racing oil and not a warranty compliant API licensed oil, it can be used safely with catalytic converters in street use applications for decades without issue.
The next best is our new Royal Purple HPS 10W-40 (part #31140, quart bottle), The HPS series because it has a significant portion of the XPR protection yet is priced closer to the RP SAE/API street oils is without a doubt the bang for the buck winner in this comparison.
The next suggestion would be for someone who absolutely needed an API licensed oil in order to be warranty compliant with a fairly new vehicle. The best protection and best choice within our SAE street oils for your 09 AMG C63 is Royal Purple SAE 5W-40 (part #01540, quart bottle).

Your 2009 C63 AMG takes 9.3 quarts.

Due to Royal Purple HPS being a new product this year, you are not likely to find it on a local store shelf. However eventually a special order should be possible at your local O’Reilly’s, or NAPA. Also in some regions Advanced Auto, Carquest and Pep Boys may also be able to special order HPS for you.

Using an oil that doesn't meet the appropriate API specification just creates the risk of having a warranty claim denied. Go with a quality synthetic that meets the appropriate API specs. You won't be disappointed.
