2012 c63, coupe vs sedan

I can't make up my mind, I'm working on getting myself the c63. When I have time I will try and sell my car, or see who gives the best trade in value for my 2009 acura tl.

Now my problem is this, I don't know which to pick.

4 door is 2% less finance rate which is a plus, looks great in white on red with the 19's. I'm getting performance pack for sure, and like the contrast of the carbon fiber trunk lip.

2 door is what I test drove, LOVED the feel of the car, it felt nice and snug (i'm 6'3 240 lbs) and I really enjoyed the interior at night. Nice quality feel to it. The coupe's side bolsters are different and less likely to get damaged during ingress/egress. If I get coupe, will get magnetite black on red.

I'm stuck, to those who have driven both, does the 4 door feel the same from the driver's seat? In terms of drive and cockpit feel? Realistically no one can fit behind me in either car so it's a 3 seater either way.

May delivery if I finalize order this week.

also as dumb as this question is. I HAVE to ask. How many miles/km's do you guys get out of a tank if driven reasonably?

My commute is 60/40 highway/streets, and never during traffic. It's not for the cost, but I hate filling up gas, just annoys me. With my current car i get about 450 kms a tank, which is 1 fill up a week. If i can match that or close, i'm happy.

otherwise i'll just live with it

on average i get 150miles per tank .. daily commute in a city that is .. highway, 300-350miles .. personally, i was awaiting the coupe eagerly, but if u love something soo much, you'll only be loyal to that. The c63 was a car i fell in love with when since its release .. not the C63 coupe, know what i mean .. on paper, the coupe performs better, but i think the sedan is much more useful as a DD

I like the seats better in the coupe. I had the other seats in my previous c63 and they were great for me (5'10", 175), but very snug. I have to think you will be more comfortable in the coupe. I average about 250 miles/tank. I say just go with it!

I wonder why the seats are different. I'm 50/50 for coupe vs sedan right now. Put my car up for sale, see what kind of action it gets.

C63
Never sat in the coupe but the sedan has the same seats as the 08+ C63 and CLK63BS, which are very snug. Im 6'1 210 lbs and fit in there just fine.
Plus Im not too crazy about the look of the C63 coupes i much prefer the sedan, but that's me.

2015 E400 Coupe
Which ever you choose you will be happy with it. I had the same dilemma and I am sure many owners did at one time or another. I came out of a 2008 CLK350 which is of course a coupe and I loved that car. I decided the 4 doors were handy with an 8 year old. The seats do look better in the coupe and the outside bolster does get "worn" very quickly in the latest sedan. I am getting about 400 kms out of a tank (240 miles) and I am running it in so there has been no hard acceleration which would greatly reduce that figure. The fuel usage is like the tyre usage, brake dust, service costs etc one of those things if you want to own, what i believe is one of the best cars on the road.
Make your choice and enjoy!

The sedan is wayyyyy nicer IMO. The lines are much better.

A white sedan on the 19s is dead sexy.

I prefer the coupe looks wise and I also like that a coupe "feels" sportier to me BECAUSE it doesn't have 4 doors. I can't get past the "family" sedan feeling when there are 4 doors.... yes, I know this is silly as the car is no Camry but I like how two doors makes the car seem more purposeful to me.

prefer the lines and seats of the sedan personally. The coupe only looks better than the sedan directly from the back imo.

I think the seats in the sedan hold you better and it has adjustable bolsters. also got the mbtex interior because i was afraid of the wear.

plus trunk space in the sedan is a little more.

I never seen a 2012 C63 sedan vs coupe go head to head in any test, I am curious which one really performs better if any since they pretty much are the same.

I don't think there's much performance difference, at least not enough to factor into a decision.

Miserly mpg, exhibitionist torque (i.e. Q5 TDI)
I drove both back to back at an AMG driving event. They drive the same -- any difference is negligible. The only material difference between the two is (1) the front seats and (2) cosmetics. I picked the sedan because I thought it looked better and for the practical benefits. Some people prefer the coupe seats to the sedan's, or vice versa. The coupe seats may accommodate a wider girth. Both factors (1) and (2) are highly subjective.

C63 AMG Coupe P31
ive owned both. i have little indifference to either but i currently have a coupe. i just think they look better and there was no difference in insurance rates between the two. ive never raced either car but the coupe handles with a bit more confidence (stock).

but the bottom line is, you cant go wrong with either. pick your poison. you wont be disappointed. just make sure to get every option when you buy it.

The other thing that is swaying me towards the coupe is the size of the door, makes it easier to get in and out of at my size and my parking space is next to a wall. My current 4 door is a pain to get out of, plus it's lowered (never doing that again). My previous GTI was easier to live with.

So far I've gotten about 1600$ off of MSRP, it's snowing outside, no rush to get the car. 2000$ deposit gets me a car in May. I'll decide next week. In the meantime will try and negotiate some more. No action on my car for sale yet

I would say
sedan ---> convenience +1 rear seat little more space +1
coupe----> sporty +1 interior seats +1 panamera sunroof +1 handling +1

thats how I feel about.. I test drove the coupe as well and also seats in the back seat while somebody is driving.. I also test drove the 11 models sedan..The performance is quite similar..I asked the dealer from my place and people buying more coupe than sedan i guess is because is new looking.. the BUTT..

ya, larger door......not real worried about that. super small trunk. drives me nuts. really a pain to get a set of golf clubs in there.

I don't really play golf. But my brothers hockey bag needs to fit. Do the rear seats fold in coupe? And are the mirrors power fold also?

thanks Gthal

Has anyone here driven a 997.2 carrera S compared to your c63? Similar pricing. Used vs. New. Curious about your thoughts.

Till now though, nothing made me like the "feel" of the c63 coupe that i drove. Loved it.

Just hoping I can sell my car for a good price. Don't want to get raped with trade in

I traded in a 997.1 Carrera for my C63. The 997.2 has slightly more power than the 997.1, but the difference isn't dramatic.

To be blunt, the 911 offers a better pure driving experience -- so long as you have a lot of open road and little traffic. The 911 magic dissipated for me in the constant stop and go of city driving. But the flat 6 is magnificent, and the handling is just incredible (as it is in a Cayman for even less money.) I enjoy the C63 more in the city because of its superior low end torque, snarly engine, and better ride. It's a superior "point and shoot" car. But if you live out in the country or something, the 911 is an almost perfect second car.
