Reverse Camera with Guide Lines - Aust

Hi People,

My Aussie 2012 Coupe has Reverse Camera but no guide lines. I was at the dealers the other day and they asked if I love my car and I told them I love it but I wish it had 2 things..

Height adjustable Seat Belts (My Sedan did.. Good for young kids and me when i'm wearing a TShirt) and Guide Lines for Reverse Camera as my wife's ML350 has them. He said the reverse camera guides are not available on C Class. I left it at that.

I was looking in my Owners Manual and I found it. Page 187 - " Guide Lines in the Comand Online display. Depending on the date of mfg of the vehicle, the guide lines are shown on the display.

I emailed the dealer a copy of this and they advised " No one I am speaking to has heard to guide lines on c class. It has been suggested that it is for overseas models.

Ok..... Non Aussies do you have Guide Lines?

IF not has anyone been able to turn this feature on via Engineering Menu? If so how did you do it?

I have attached a picture of the Page 187.

Other than that 99.9% happy and only 150k's to go for Race Start.

Cheers

Marty

i said the exact same thing. not only does it not have guide lines, its mounted off center so it takes some getting used to. if you try to back up buy centering it on the back up monitor.....your going to put a huge scratch down the passenger side. come on mercedes. my infiniti has a monumentally better and more user friendly reverse camera and costs half as much.

i was hoping that my 2012 would have this remedied but its not.

I didnt inquire too much about it but i was told that the better back up systems are used on the E and S class. not sure if thats true or not. maybe some one else that is familliar with the E and S can chime in.

In reading this, I am jealous that my 2012 doesn't even have a rear back up cam or sensors

Best of luck with yours~

I also posted this on the w204 forum. It was asked to try the engineering menu which it did but there was no option to activate guide lines. The person who posted also had a clk which has this option.

Well my ML has it but my c63 doesn't and I still don't know why. I'll get a letter to MB head office and see what happens.

Giddy Up

I was able to enable the lines on my 2011 C63, a member on the w204 thread mentioned to keep going to the next page. At first I couldn't figure out how to get to the next page. But in fact the option is there if you push the control knob down once you get to the last option.

On a side note, not sure if I like it with the lines, will have to try tomorrow while parking at work. Here is a crappy iphone pic.

With that done, wonder if I can find how to edit the Mercedes welcome logo to the AMG logo like ppl with the w211 would do when you first turn the radio on.

Funny thing is the dumb service advisor at my dealer gave me this bs story about how they stopped using the lines in all models because of lawsuits people would file over hitting things that were within the lines. Even though I saw them in a 2012 S550 I had test drove after getting my car. Can't wait to show him

No luck Perry tonight.... Maybe I'm fighting a loosing battle.

Looks it works for C class 2011 not 2012??????

This is what i posted on the w204 forum where they are having some luck and Lamb got it to work on his c63 today.

Hi Lambie...... Did you follow the below procedure from the w204????

I'm doing something wrong?

Hi,

Must be and Aussie 2012 C Class Thing.

I followed your steps up to HU Parameters but I have 10 pages not
4 like yours. Found Reverse Camera on page 3/10 no 21 get to SRVC but no option SRVC Guide Line, even when to click on this gives me other 3 other Letter options other than SRVC. Didn't want to click of those as it's getting late at night.

Anyone able to get it to work on their 2012 C?
I know it works on other models we have it on our ML at home.

Thanks

Marty

Hey Marty,

I followed the guide for the most part until, once you get into the "HU Parameter" menu I went all the way down until I saw "guide line" I think, will double check after work. Then I entered that sub menu and selected SRVC. That did the trick. The lines are kind of off in my opinion. I think I prefer it with out them.

Good luck, hope you 2012 guys can figure it out and get it to work.

Sam

Thing is, I activated backup tow lines or whatever it was called, but was still line-less when I placed my car in reverse..

Any suggestions?

On your Comand Dial Pad

The "Hangup / # / 1 Hold these buttons down at once for 5 sec and you hear a beep. Then your are in Engineering Menu.

Follow my post on the w204 forum and also youtube

Good luck

My Dealer said he called MB Head Office this option is not available for 2012 Cars. They didn't give him a reason.

However I was able to turn on the lane assist and activate the Video In Motion

Nup only joking.

LOL
