Thumbs up Was bored - went to Atco = new personal best!

I was bored, so I dediced to take a spur of the moment trip to Atco tonight.
-2000 DA was the motivating factor.

The only thing I did was take out the spare tire and jack. I set my tire pressures and had fun.

Weather was perfect for breaking records. The only issue was traction. As the temps dropped the track started getting slick so I settled for a mediocre increase in et and trap speed. My personall best run was the only run I was able to get decent traction.

11.277 @ 125.05

The slip says March 7th, not sure why but the run was made on the 6th.

Crappy Iphone picture.

My car needs a serious drop.

Clean looking ride. I agree a bit lower would be perfect.

What tires are you running in the rear with what pressure?

Thank you.

Nitto 18" NT555R drag radials set at 18 psi for the track.

WOW!! Impressive. If I could only get a 1.8 sec 60'.....
How are you launching and in what mode are you drag racing? I just can't even see a 1.9 at all. I am running the same tires and I have the MHP S2 but can't hook up for *****!

Thanks.

Atco is a great track, I don't even bother with Englishtown anymore.

Track prep is very important and normally Atco is very good at it.

I launched about 1200 rpm. I give it a little gas before releasing the brake pedal. If you do it right the car slingshots out of the hole. This run was done in manual mode and I short shifted on the 1 - 2 shift because I was scared of hitting the limiter.

^^^^Great Advise . I have to try that technique. My car always bogs down a few feet after the initial launch. I spoke with my tuner and he thinks that I am overloading my converter(I am not sure if I am explaining it right) but apparently I am trying to launch it at higher rpms than normal..

I've never used Hoosier's but Mickey Thompsons are very good.

When these Nitto's are done I'm going back to the M/T's

For some reason these cars/transmissions don't like the converter to be loaded. You're better off starting your launch at 1000 rpm and work your way up to about 1500 rpm in 100 rpm incriments. Make sure you document how the car responds at each rpm. Tire pressures are important too, I usually start at 20 psi and work my way down. Also, do a real good burnout.

Thanks Mo!

My regular point and shoot took a dump so the iphone is pulling double duty for now. The car is really coming together nicely. Once I do the drop(H&R springs) I'll take better pics.

Thanks Keith! I was pushing so hard for an 11.1 but traction started becoming a problem as the night went on.

Hopefully MIR some day.

You ever thought about some 17" rims with Hoosiers? That seems to net the best 60. A better 60 could get you in the 10s. Great run nonetheless!

I have thought about it and front skinny's too but my goal is to run 10.9 with full interior and no wheel changes. Not sure if I'm going to be able to do it with my current setup.

I may try a spare ECU with a race tune next. MHP cams look very promising. Honestly, I think a higher stall torque converter alone will put me on the doorstep of 10's in good weather.
