Why isn't 19" AMG available for US?
Does anyone know why the 19" AMG wheel that is an option in Europe and Canada is not available as an option in the US?
Thanks,
Thanks,

Not available in the US. You can order them at some ridiculous price via the parts department, but it is not an option as you build out a C63. My guess is this changes in 2013 but complete speculation.

MBUSA has made a determination that the roads in are unfit for 19" wheels and/or people in the US can't drive with 19" wheels with rubber bands as tires.

Well, some Aussie roads are pretty average too....19s are standard here with P31, but you can have the standard 18s if that is your choice.

It really is stupid they don't offer them in the states. You'd have to find an edition 1 coupe or sedan to get 19's. I was lucky and bought a used set from a forum member. Makes a big difference in my opinion.

P.S. What size wheels does Ferrari put on the 458? They ain't 18s. Name one ultra high performance car today that doesn't come with 19s (well there might be a few but most are 19s). If it hurt performance, many would stay 18.

I call BS on this one and say the AMG and M instructors are not right... weight of a wheel matters, width of a wheel matters... diameter shouldn't play into it. The likely reason they suggest that is because 19" wheels in general weigh more. I would argue turn in and responsiveness is BETTER with 19" wheels as there is less sidewall flex. I found the 19s on my M3 to be WAY more responsive and crisp than when I had my 18s on the track. Either way, any difference in performance is negligible and not something most if not all of us would be able to discern. A light weight 19" wheel will perform the same as a similar weight 18" wheel IMO.
