The C63 Project is wrapping up

The C63 that ACG built for me is about wrapped up. The clear body wrap installation that was put on has to come off. Hopefully the beautiful paint job doesn't come off at the same time.

There is really only one thing left to do on the car. The KW hydraulic front lift system that was installed has been broken from day 1. 4 months later KW has gotten around to sending a new pump. That needs to be installed and then the car will be finished. People thinking about getting this hydraulic option might want to rethink that in view of my experience. Support for this option is limited at this time.

Anyway. ACG is finishing up a supercharger install on one of my 993s. So I expect the C63 will be leaving ACG by early next week. If anyone locally wants to see it, please stop by. The new wheels are gorgeous and the car seems to be something else. I haven't driven it since I dropped it off about a year ago so I really have no impression of it myself.

After being picked up the car will be trucked away. So this is pretty much everyone's last chance at it.

Go look if you want to.

I've seen it. Very nice. I especially like the rear flares.

It seems like a great time to schedule it. My cars will all be moving out of there this week. They will have some free time I'm sure.

Trucked away - to be crushed? To be dropped off at a new home? To what?

I'm confused about this thread... did you sell your car after all the mods & money you spent on it? It would be nice if you can show the end result of your project/beast!!

There was no real point to it. I wanted to see how far you could take the car. I originally bought the car to do a cross country rally. It didn't get the first major mod done in time. After that, I just wanted to see how far you could take this car. Most of that was accomplished for SEMA. Now I'm done with it. The car is going to a pole barn in central WI. I doubt it will be heard from again.

I had fun with it and that's about all that was required.

Did you even drive the car after all this effort??

Surely ACG should have photos they would like to share??

Think about what a barn find this is going to make someday. People will speculate about its history and there won't be any.

Nope. Never drove it. I haven't even sat in it for almost a year.

So Jim by what yardstick to you measure this project's success by then, considering your goal was to see how far you could take the car? Just curious as to what motivates such a build if it not to either drive it or really show it off to other enthusiasts even by way of nice pictures

Let me put it this way. I have in years past commissioned artwork to be created. When it was done, I put it in a garden and looked at it. It gave me satisfaction to know it existed for my pleasure because I had it made. Then I sold that house and the artwork is still there. The new owners haven't removed it so I guess they appreciate it too.

I got satisfaction from creating the car. It's a wonder. Now I'm done with it.

A year ago we all agreed I have some odd aspects to my personality. This is one of them. I think ACG has pictures. If not, they can get some this week. But they need to hurry, the car has to go within a week, as soon as they get the KW hydraulics working. Someday when some kid drags this thing out of that barn, I want everything 'done'.

A little more about turning a car into a time capsule. After the car gets to WI, a storage company is going to drain all the fluids and prep it for storage. The car will have the leather treated and desiccant put inside. Then it will be covered and sealed into a double vacuum sealed bag. They tell me a century of storage without degradation or rodent damage is possible. Someone will find out.

Give me the address to the barn. I'm in Chicago I can make my way up there with some mobile 1 and some 93 octane...

I'll take off her chastity belt for you...

Why bother owning a C63, let alone modding it if your not gonna drive it?

Its not a Ferrari 250GT or a ultra rare exotic, its just a C63. Its a shame not to drive the car, especially one that's been modded up like yours.
Whatever floats your boat i guess....

The point of the thread is, if you are in the San Diego area and you've been following the car, go have a look if you feel like it, its done except for taking off the body wrap.

There is no point other than that.

I know where there's a 2005 Carrera GT with 54 original miles on it. Less than .5 of those miles were put on by the 1 and only original owner.

Some of us just do things differently.
