C63 Transmission Oil Flush
Ok.. this is really bothering me now....
My C63 is coming up with a B0 service and I called MB Dealer they mentioned to be that outside the B0 service, a transmission flush is recommended for every 60,000 KM. And in Canada, the two jobs will cost about $700 (B0) and $300 (tranny flush).
So with this news, I consulted another shop. When I asked them about the tranny flush, he said, "What? German cars DON'T require tranny flush. The tranny oil is lifetime. If you have a Japanese car, yes, every 60k-70k KM, but not for German car"
Now, we all know why we call dealership - stealerships, and not having to pay for the tranny flush is music to my ears. But... I want to know... who is right?
Do I need a tranny flush?

Yes you need a tranny flush. There is clutches and gears in there. I believe there is a filter too.
I am doing mine myself here with 50k km on it along with the rear LSD diff.
Dealership charges an arm and a leg for everything.
Find yourself a MB tech that does work on the side and pay him cash for simple stuff like this.
PS, its MB that says you need a tranny flush, not your dealership. So by calling them a stealership is in a way not accurate, unless you mean the 140$/hr rate they charge, then yes you are correct

I don't care what anyone tells you, lubricating fluids of any type do not last a lifetime, in either an engine, transmission or rear differential. Please have your fluids changed. I recommend that you find yourself and independant Mercedes shop, and have them perfrom the service for you. As mentioned already their are clutches in your transmission, this isn't a simple DIY. As their are no refill plugs for say, the fluid has to be warmed up, and a certain pressures. I had my tranny serviced for $130, including filter and gasket. Rear differentiual fluid changed for $85, and engine coolant for $60. make sure they use a recommend tranny fluid for your specific transmission, as all fluid aren't the same. The wrong fluid will start to eat at seals, cause the clutch disc to wear prematurely, shifting problems. After I did my service the car seemed to pull harder and shift more firmly, maybe it was just my imagination, but that's what it felt like from thet seat of my pants.

Where are you guys getting quoted prices for so cheap?
THe trans service on my ML55 is going to be $550! Just seems like 550 was too high. If it was $300, I would have had it done when I was there last. Called 3 dealers all over $500.

It cost me 120ish just in MB parts to get the fluid (20$/liter) and parts for the tranny flush, so I'm not sure how you got it done so cheap unless they used after market parts...

No flushing = rubbish and an invitation for trouble MB's sealed for life concept fell on the ground when transmissions started to fall to pieces in the late 90's. They definitely need a flush with filter change and use of the correct ATF grade for the specific transmission. It DOES make a difference and improves gear changes, not forgetting that oil is not everlasting.

My boys have a shop, so I'm able to get things done cheap. I also spread the word about their shop to other MB owners.

These are the instructions posted by whipplem104:
The transmission is filled from the drain hole. So first you have to be able to do that. Then the level is set by fluid temperature. We use the SDS for this at work but you can check it with an infrared thermometer on the pan and just do it a little lower temp to account for exchange loss. Set it at 110F. Spec is 113F.
With the fluid overfull at around 6 quarts fill engine running open the drain plug and let the fluid drain out until you see the stream start to grab air or flutter. Put the drain plug back in and you should be good. There is a tube extension on the drain hole that sticks up about 2.5inches that must be on when you do this.
There is a special tool for knocking this tube off when draining.
My dealer quoted $400. I'm putting the C63 on a 30k miles change schedule.

Transmission and differential fluid change on C63
Hi all I would like to enquire if there are any tutorials / walkthroughs for the changing of transmission and differential fluid on the C63 or is it straightforward? We removed the old oil from the engine and put in new fully synthetic oil and OEM oil filter which was easy and straight forward, just not sure if there is anything special about changing the fluids for the transmission and differential but suppose its time now at 50 000 km.
Any information would be greatly appreciated,
Jennifer

So what is the recommended schedule to do the tranny flush. I just had my service A1 a few months ago and it shows service B0 in 300 days at the moment. That car is sitting at around 43K km's. When should I aim to do the tranny flush? And what else should I be getting done at this time?
