weird navi behavior

i've only noticed this a couple of times with my 2010 c63, never had any issues with my 2009... usually i figure it must be the weather and that it's cloudy or something...

although i don't have a picture of this instance, i was driving on a highway and the circle representing me on the navi started going off on it's own and going towards water...

last night i was on my way home and happened to flip through the navi screen when i noticed that it said 'off map'... majority of the time i'm on the radio/sat screen so i wouldn't have noticed if my navi did this other times as well... but what i saw on the screen last night was definitely weird...

i did a little search and found out that the street that was on the navi was located in montvale, nj... i'm in dallas, tx

home the point
My navi would occasionally glitch out on me as well. It usually corrects itself after couple of minutes.

the first instance, it just kept on staying near the water and sputtering around it until i got home

the one in the picture stayed on that screen until i got home... didn't change... about 15 minutes

Next time you are near a large open area like a mall parking lot try driving around a fairly tight circle three times. If that doesn't do it leave the car in wide-open area for 20-30 minutes. Next I would suspect something antenna-related. I cured similar nav issues in a BMW with an antenna replacement.

Two things: 1, make sure your software is up to-date; 2, get yourself a TomTom or whatever as the Navi sucks compare to the stand alone units.

Did you just replaced the unit and not the wiring or antenna? Because it might not be the unit itself acting up, rather the antenna itself.

On both cases they replaced the unit. I had to wait 2 reach each time for it to arrive from Germany, I have to look at the worksheet again but i think it cost them $6800 each time. You would think they would try they antenna first, but maybe its to much of a PITA to get the wiring replaced.

I have yet another appointment with them scheduled.
The only reason i have not sent it in sooner is because they end up keeping the car almost 2 weeks every time. so the car has been in there shop about a month already just because of the NAV. Redonkulous to say the least.

If that's the case then I highly doubt it was the unit's fault. Which dealer you have gone to for the fix? I was with Smythe European in San Jose for a while, and they seems pretty good. Hope this helps.
