Coolant leak

Hi.
I have serious problem with my C63 (2009 and 35 000 miles). Over the last 1,5 months I have constantly losing coolant. So far I have filled with extra 4 liters in it. Car has been twice in the repair shop and they don´t find any leakage - everything is dry as usual.
So today they told me that maybe I have crack in the engine or something else and that causes coolant loss into engine. Does anybody have any information about it or same problem?

P.S. Does the 63 engine have any extended warranty via factory as it is serious fault if engine has crack??

It sounds like you may have a leaking head gasket. I believe there is a TSB for replacing the head bolts and gaskets for M156 engines that are eating coolant. Depending on the original purchase date of the car, you should still be covered under warranty. Let us know what the dealer finds.

Thanks. Will check it out ASAP.
I figured out one thing, maybe it is important. I filled up the coolant system and drove very hardly and after 5 miles 2 L of coolant was gone, but when I drive slowly no leakage
Hope that there is no major issue. I will keep you informed.
In what circumstances they will replace it under the warranty. Purchase date is 07.2009?

WOWWWWWWzers.

2 Liters in 5 miles!!!! F me.

You got a serious problem bud, I wouldn't be driving that thing at all!!

Are you sure its not leaking out somewhere?? That is a lot of liquid to just disappear.

If that coolant is enter the cylinders its a friggen miracle you haven't hydrolocked that engine yet. On second thought I think thats nearly impossible that the engine wouldn't have hydrolocked.. It must be leaking out somewhere, you would be blowing white smoke out the exhaust badly.

I would check the oil condition-ASAP. My C63 has over 24k and without coolant loss. I hope it stays that way.

Thanks. This thread I have read, I thought another thread is out here.
Weird is when I drive slowly (normal) no coolant loss then...

Got first information from dealer and he stated that head gasket is leaking and probably head bolt failure also, because they are related. No feedback about warranty so far.
Does anybody have any ideas, is there any possibility to solve this issue at AMG/factory/dealer expense?
Regular warranty has expired

Lol and they say these bolts are fine...

You are so lucky you haven't hydro locked your engine.

Let us know if they fix it.

Engine is built by Robert Feiler.
No smoke from exhaust. Only thing I have noticed is that cabin temperature is low (two times).

Whats the dealer saying at this point with regard to warrantying the work?

It wont be a cheap job as I believe the cams x4 have to come out and that is a PIA.

I wonder if these bolts are overtighten. Which causes them to break?

It's hard to believe that a bunch of AMG engine techs were over-torqueing head bolts. I'd be more inclined to believe that it was a metallurgy issue with the bolt itself, which would most likely make it a supplier-related problem. It reminds me of the bearing issue in the E46 M3 that necessitated an extended warranty from BMW.

Hey Guys it is very unfortunate what some of you are going through. We have seen the flaws in the M156 engine, and this is definitely one of them. With that being said we have designed an ARP Head Stud that is over four times stronger than the factory torque to yield bolts. These Head Studs have been used by our high power supercharged cars and have been proven at over 15psi of boost.

Remember if installed incorrectly, a torque to yield bolt can stretch beyond its maximum tensile strength and become exponentially weaker. We believe this coupled with the fact Mercedes did have running changes is a major factor in why people are having these problems. If anyone is interested feel free to PM or email us for more details. Thanks guys.

It's impossible for the AMG engine builder to overtorque the bolts. The torque, order process is all computer controlled and recorded using some fancy torque gun.
