Replacing Brake Pads

who supplies our OEM brake pads? are they by mercedes? other options, preferably better than OEM, looking for some good squeal free and with low brake dust release, classic merc. move, all their models tend to have squeaky brakes.

I'm interested in this too.. having come to my C63 from an Audi RS4 Saloon, first thing I noticed was squeaky brakes.

I picked up brake pads from carbotech. They were great and squeak free. A great middle of the road option. Go for their 1510s for the street.

I have a set of front pads from carbotech (XP10s) if anyone is interested. They are great for the track. No fade after several laps, but the do squeak like a porsche with the carbon ceramic option, so it's a little embarrassing on the streets.

Check out the Ferodo DS2500. A very good street pad, good for a bit of track work too, excellent performance hot or cold.
Cheers, Pickles.

That is a great pad.

However, so are the stock pads.
The stock pads are formulated for quiet street driving (more so than the DS2500 track pad).
I doubt you will find a quieter pad that performs as well as stock.
Same for dusting.

My stock pads are completely silent but do dust a lot.
However, they stop very well.

Endless SSM is a practically dust free pad, but it won't stop as well as stock.
However, they are fine for responsible street & canyon driving.
I had them before and liked them.

G'day from Aus....I absolutely agree with you 100% in that I would not change from the O.E. pads myself, where M.B. has done all the testing, R/D etc.
So I'm with you...stick to the factory pads.....I only suggested the Ferodos because they were the "Factory" pad on a previous car of mine, & they were brilliant....I would not change from the "factory" pad on that car (HSV GTO 6L Coupe (AP 6 piston brakes))either.
So, "Factory" pads for me, but if ya just gotta have a change......well, the Ferodos are worth a look!
Cheers, Pickles.

Endless MX72. Quiet like stock but better stopping power and better tolerance to heat on the track.

You guys all have brand new cars and are recommend brake pads... Have you guys even run these pads on your car?

I am running Porterfield RS4 pads that I got from a forum sponsor on here (formymercedes.com) on my stock rotors. I got 48,000km out of the stock pads and they were wore right down to the limit.

I threw on these new pads. I didn't machine the rotors or anything. Just threw them on and they work great. No dust, perform just as good as stock or better and no squeal at all...

These are not our only cars.
We have run these pads (and many others) on previous cars on street and track.

I ran RS4 before and would never buy them again.
Just not impressive in any category, except cost.

However, since skokkosis asked about lower dust and squeek (than OEM) we may have to save the excellent DS2500 and MX72 for another discussion.

I didn't mean you, I meant the guys with 2012s... Just wondering if they have even used these other pads on there cars b4...

I have no complaints about RS4, they work great in my experience... Never on the track yet, but I am booked for a little track session on April 28th..

Usually noise and dust are associated with performance pads.. So he is probably better off with an RS4 if those are his concerns imo.

Considering skokkosis exhaust mods, it must squeek bad to hear it.

I wonder if the rotors are glazed, or it always did it.
OEM pads are very quiet, in my experience.

I am planning to try MX72 out soon.
OEM pads are too quiet.

well, in all honesty, they didn't squeak until a few thousand miles ago, i'm currently at 25,000, they ALWAYS do squeal though one or two days after some rain or a highly humid day, merc. told me that i have plenty of wear left, i mean i am entering high mileage for the pads to still have plenty of life left, how fast do you guys go through your pads? anywhere i can grab OEM pads online? part #? i can check parts.com, thanks guys for all the help thus far!

and lunarx... it's not louder than that, yet, if they were that loud i would have gotten rid of them a long time ago, i woulda gone nuts! very few things can come even close to the roar these cars release with headers

I am about to change my pads (and maybe rotors, have not decided yet).. I'm at 60k miles, and I still have some pad left (about 4mm.. not much.. but it is something.. I was going to wait for the light to come on.. but I might just do it this weekend)

My OEM pads lasted one track day, barely. Put on hawk dtc70's for track, made it two days. Had drama with some other pads I tried and can't recommend RB pads for the track, I have some inexpensive organic pads for the street now that work fine and endless me20's for the track that are awesome. I have a 2012, so...I guess to answer your question some of us are familiar with pads for 2012's.

... THAT is expensive. I hope to get at least one season (6-8 events) out of the pads I have on the car (MX72) and tires. If not, the C63 will be way to expensive to spend any time at the track. I don't mind replacing tires and pads at the end of every summer season but 1 or 2 track days... that's bad. My M3 had no trouble getting through a season on a set of tires and a set of Stoptech Street Performance pads.

Yeah, No Sh*t. I'm hopeful these endless pads last as long as promised...short tracks in Texas.

Pads maybe, shims could possibly help. No way tires are gonna make it more than three weekends on most tracks.

Remember not to use track pads below 50% thickness, because the pads and calipers will run excessevly hot and the entire braking system becomes compromised.
Track pads are not something you want to try and squeeze extra service life out of.

Depending how hard you are on brakes, its reasonable to change front track pads after 3 events.

Its actually impressive for stock pads to survive a full day of hard track, use since they are not designed to operate in that temperature range.
Most street pads would have failed much more dramatically.

Gotta say, the PSS's are holding up very well. Not sure how many events I have on them, but I would say at least 4, probably have one more good long day in them.

That is very impressive, I am planning to make the switch once my current Star Specs wear out. As for track tires, these Hankook Z214's lasted not quite a weekend but it was 100 degrees at Roebling Road which has multiple fast, off camber turns and eats up fronts. I did have the fronts reversed in between days but it didn't help much.

Yea, hurts just a tad. lol

So if aftermarket endless pads are 600, how much are OEM?

Are endless the best you can get aftermarket?

Or do they just do OK? I for one, wouldn't care much for performance, I just wouldn't want any noisy brakes..
