Secondaries

Yes this has been brought up a million times, and ive read all the threada about it. When you delete the secondary cats do you have to replace it with an x or h pipe? Or can you just delete the secondary cats and thats it? A friend of mine got his deleted the other day and said he disnt put an x pipe or an h pipe he just got them deleted, but his car doesnt sound that different...any insight would be appreciated

Putting an X or H pipe is not a requirement, you can put an X, H or straight pipes.
I would recommend replacing 2ndary cats with an X pipe and replacing the resonators with straight pipes.

_amg_ i heard how your car sounded, very sick my friend. But i have diplomat plates and i dont really want my car to be obnoxious, arabs and their "reputations" lol. So i was just going to go with secondaries. But from what ive heard x pipes were much better than h pipes.

Also if anyone knows a place in northern va to get this done that would be great!

Thanks man!
Are you looking for more sound out of your exhaust or more power?
If you replace your 2ndary cats with an X pipe its not going to be any louder then stock, its actually going to sound more refined. (If you still have your OEM resonators in place)

If you want more "bark" out of your setup while not being crazy loud, I would recommend only replacing the resonators with straight pipes.

off topic, sorry, but "maroonC63," is this another barolo red c63? I think that would make 3 that we are aware of, inlcuding mine and DadsC63. Mine was the only one with black interior unless yours too.

more sound, not really concerned with power just yet. I can't find a shop around northern va that'll do it, maybe benz elite, but they havn't returned any of my calls. Did you get your straight pipes from a shop, or did you order them online? Do straight pipes come with a drone?

Then I would only replace the resonators with straight pipes.
It will sound awesome! Much more aggressive tone.

Yes, I got my straight pipes done at a muffler shop for around $80.
No, I have absolutely no drone.
AMG got it right with the OEM mufflers, they do a fantastic job of giving the C63 its signature sound while keeping drone levels to a minimum.
Thanks to the mufflers, even if your going with a full catless setup you still wont get any drone.

BTW beautiful car man, love the barolo red.
Super rare color.

You've just made my decision! Ima stop by a local muffler shop and see what they can do, did you tell them anything specifically or did you just tell them you wanted straight pipes?

And thank you! it was just sitting at the Bethesda dealership and i fell in love, people think its a weird color, but it grows on them after 2 minutes

Does deleteing the resonators bring up a CEL?

Awesome!!
Ya, I just told them to replace my resonator with straight pipes. Its a straight forward procedure, any muffler can do this.
