Average MPG
Hi Gents,
I had test driven a few other cars, but the moment I hit the "joy" peddle on the C63, I fell in love. I drive 60 miles per day, and the car will be my DD. Just curious what kind of mileage you guys are getting?
I'm in Northern Cal, and use the 101 freeway, but often get stuck in traffic.
My wife drives an ML500 SUV (2005) and it's a great car, but curious if anyone familair with the ML would consider the C63 about the same mileage, etc.,
Thanks all,
Quad

Even in traffic, I think the ML gets slightly more MPG compare to the C63. I drives local most of the time, and my MPG is always in the low teens.

i get about 17-18 with short trips (read car is in warm up alot which worsens the mileage). my trips are about 10 miles of highway then some city driving. stop for dinner and then repeat. so 17-18 without getting into the throttle much if any. on highway trips or country backroads without alot of stop and go i can get it up around 22. this car can easily average in the 10mpg range if you are beating on it.

i am getting 8-10 city and 18-19 highway. it averages out around 14-16 depending on my foot
some people on the private lounge are claiming 22mpg??? i am baffled by that. unless theyre talking about c32/55. if not, they must be driving downhill both ways

I drive about the same as you, 50 to 60 miles each way every day around DC (495 and 95.. neither are fun roads with traffic).
My morning commute see's only a little traffic, and I avg around 18 to 21 depending on how heavy I am on the throttle.
Going home, that drops to about 14 to 17 mpg (does anyone in DC actually work 8 hours.. 3pm is the start of rush hour... you would think the same cars in the morning would be in the afternoon rush.. but nope..)
In DC city traffic.. I manage about 8 to 10mpg... but I like to drive in manual mode around the tunnels and tall buildings so I can listen to the engine wind down and make fun noises

80% City 20% Highway. I'm really meticulous when it comes to this topic and RESET my values every time I fill up (never let it go below 1/3 tank).
That said, I range about 100-115 miles from a FULL tank down to 1/3 tank.
It's so funny while I'm refueling (with the engine running), I reset the values, and the LCD Display starts at around 17.8 mpg and drops .1 every few seconds or so... and I'm not even moving!! hahahhahahaha

Enjoy the car... you will LOVE it!!!

Now that my car is broken in, I avg 12 mpg per full tank.

Your MPG's are a little deceiving and don't really apply to the people that don't live in the NYC area. When we say city traffic, it literally means it takes an hour to go 5 miles. Highway for us is the BQE, Belt Parkway and LIE. Pretty much bumper to bumper all the time. So it's really funny when some of these fokes here say that they get 17mpg in the city, that's what I get on the highway! lolz
Probably the worst roads in the USA regarding road quality (poor at best), and the traffic. 5 Miles in an hour is generous... I'd say it's closer to 3. hahahaha
However, @Jeff, my "home course/stretch"is late night on Henry Hudson Northbound from the last traffic light at around 56th St all the way to the GWB
I once timed myself back in 1996 (I would never do this now), but it took me under 4 minutes... in a HONDA PRELUDE Si!!! Had it pinned the WHOLE way leading up to the GWB (8.1 miles according to Google). I could prob do it in under 3 minutes with my C63..
But would I? HECK NO. hahahaha When I reflect back on that night, I shake my head wondering how I didn't wreck and die that night!!
All in all, to the OP, my advice or suggestion would be to:
"Expect the absolute worst when it comes to fuel economy and the C63, and at the same time, expect a BIG A$$ grin from ear to ear every time you press that gas pedal"
Enjoy your day folks

18 MPG is the max I have ever seen.
15MPG is typical if I don't make any extended highway trips on a given tank between fill-ups.
I noticed the trip information is about 1.3MPG optimistic over actual.

No seriously, on a scale of 1-10 on hard you drive your car, what would your answer be? 1 being the lowest 10 being super hard? Just curious~

Recently did a 2000k trip....mostly cruising in the "wide open spaces" of the Aussie bush....mostly on cruise control at 100/110ks...except in towns etc....average 24.9MPG.
In the city....NOT INTERESTED.....what's the point?...it'd be R.S.
Cheers, Pickles.

Wow... I'm SHOCKED by these #'s!! Especially anything over over 12.
Reallly? In all honesty, I'm a bit heavy off the line, but pretty conservative otherwise...
well I thought I was.. And I really TRY when it comes how I burn my fuel...
Ok, I shall try and match or beat these "city" numbers after my next fill up and report back.
..My goal is 15mpg

WOW!!! Are you sure you didn't accidentally press the 1 button and meant 5mpg?? Lol.. that's amazing. Even during my break in period, "C" Mode, and never above 4K RPM, I couldn't even come CLOSE to 15mpg.

With my typically short trips, I'm mostly waiting for oil temp to get up.
So pretty much just putting around in C mode under 2K.
Sadly, I'm probably 90% at Level 1 on the hard driving scale.
I do get on it once in a while but not sustained for very long.
In the canyons MPG would be out the window.
I manually calculate MPG every fill-up, so what I quote is an average of whatever type of driving I did between re-fills.
I hope nobody is quoting MPG from their Trip Computer, because that thing is dreaming.

I got almost 21mpgs on my trip down the I-5. I'll post the pic but I definitely got 309 miles from the tank. Can't recall how many gallons it took to fill up, but you can do the math. I think we were going about 80mph most of the way due to traffic.

I've done the real math and my hwy numbers are accurate.
On the 5, you'll get flashed and passed at 80. When I made that trip before I got this car I used to avg 90mph. That is very typical. In San Diego, everyone goes 80.
