Getting service done while considering purchasing an extended warranty
Hi All,
I wanted to know what requirements there are for a car to be qualified for an extended warranty through MB. I've been getting service checkups and oil changes done at a MB dealership, but what about replacing wear and tear parts like the brakes? If I get this done from an independent shop, is this going to hinder me from being eligible to purchase an extended warranty through MB?
Additionally, being in 2012 we probably have a lot of '08 owners whose warranty will be up soon...are you guys planning on purchasing an extended manufacturer's warranty? Looking at 3rd party warranty's?

I think as long as you have records of work done elsewhere if they ask it should not be a problem.
I was just recently shopping around for extended warranties and it looks like the only requirement was to be under 50k and within original warranty.. I too did my brakes (among other things) at an indy.

Talked to the head of finance at a dealership and was told Mercedes does not offer extended warranties if you are not the original owner.
They recommended Mercury for 3rd party warranty work and the quote was 5 years for $5500.
Anyone have feedback on working with Mercury for warranty work?
