Drag Radial - PLEASE HELP
Hi
I need to make a decision on a new set of drag radials.
I currently run a MT 265/40/18. This has worked in the past but
I now need to find a "better tyre" as I am battling to improve my
60ft. This is primarily due to the fact that most of our tracks
over here are unprepped.
I am considering going to a wider tyre but the only option I have
is to drop down to a 17" and go 275/40/17 in MT / Hoosier or M&H.
Stock not readily available on these locally.
I can get my hands on the Nitto NT05 Drag Radial in 285/40/18
There have been some negative comments towards the Nitto DR's.
Can you guys please share your valued input and experiences with
these tyres bearing in mind that I run on an uprepped track most of
the time.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks George.
1 July @ Tarlton is not really my concern. That track is much better
than all the others, besides I am at least 20% down on power there.
Matuba next week is my concern. Thinking about going down but no point if i dont have the right tyres.
Last thing I want is to go all that way and have no grip.

Are you spinning off the line? Hooiser DOT drag radial is the next best thing to a true slick. They are not designed for road use. The only reason they are Dot approved is to compete in the DOT rated drag class.
The side walls are really soft and will fold at 18psi.
I was dead hooking with them at the track with ****ty street legal prep. 275/40/17, excellent tire.
