Stolen Wheels and Tires in Houston
Just an FYI, I had my wheels stolen off my C63 while it was parked in my apartment complex's garage located near Greenway Plaza in Houston. They were the standard 18" five spokes with Michelin PSS tires. If anyone in the area has seen someone shady trying to sell some, please let me know.
Thanks

my wife bananas! :D
Sorry to hear this. My car got broken into a few years back while I was living in a condo. I have since moved elsewhere and made sure that the condo I moved into before the house I am in now had security cameras and actual security walking around at night.
Hope you find your tires and wheels... and the people that are responsible.

Man, inside the complex garage, huh?! Gosh, that's why the best is to have your own garage. Obviously, those wheel locks will be better at non-snow/ice area. However, I have spoken to a MB parts person and he really doesn't recommend it. It's because you have a higher chance of losing the lug key and the company wouldn't replicate on for you.
Moreover, your window will likely gets smashed in because thief will want to access the glove blox where most people keep their lug key. Of course, another way is to pocket the lug key or wear it around your neck, but the thief is still going to smash your window for it.
Moreover, there are many ways to turn the wheel lock. Look online and youtube and there are lots of info on what to do when you lose the lug key. I'm sure thieves are prepared to do the same.
Hopefully you will find your wheels.

I've had a car broken into in an apartment complex where the security was kind of a joke. It probably wouldn't have happened if I didn't leave my Garmin and iPod in plain view. Whoops.
We also had some break-ins in my new condo where somehow the crook found the master key that's supposed to be for contractors and used it to gain access into different storage units. They stole all of my motorcycle gear, but SFPD caught the guy and I got almost all of it back. So there is hope if you scour Craigslist etc. There are websites that help you search CL on a national level so I'd check those out.
I started a thread a while back about wheel locks and someone recommended me Rimlox. They have a guarantee and will replace your rims if they ever get stolen, that's how confident they are. They've said in the decade they've been in business, they've never had to pay out because none of theirs have ever been stolen. They also give you a 2-part key so you can leave on in the car (which is useless to thieves) and the other part is small enough to keep on your keychain.
Good luck on finding your stuff.

In my opinion, I would prefer to replace a window than losing a few grands worth of wheels & tires.
My advice is to hide the keys in a safe place in ur car, not glove compartment. I doubt thieves will take the time to search ur car for the lock keys.

I stay in Houston and this is the first time I've heard of a Mercedes having their rims stolen. Looks like the Cali trend is working its way in to Texas. Mercedes shares it's bolt pattern with some audi's and vw's. Can't think of any other brands that can use the wheel with out modification. Even fitting C63 rims on other Mercedes is kind of difficult. Check out www.houston-imports.com and let the community know, might have a better chance finding since it's a local forum. I can sympathize with you, I've had my side view mirrors stolen off my car. Worst case scenario, claim it on your insurance. Each rim is $800+ per rim directly from the dealership. Maybe it's time to upgrade to 19" C63 rims.
I'll keep any eye out for the rims, any pictures of the car or wheels?

I have stock wheels but it's still worthwhile to have locks on them.

This sucks - last year i went to the Mall in NJ to pick up an iMac - was in the mall for maybe 40 minutes. Drove home and noticed one bolt was missing on my rear wheel. Thought nothing of it, maybe I didn't torque it properly. So I take out my torque wrench and start to tighten the rest to be safe and two of them snapped off. Then I noticed the fingerprints - I was lucky, not that they werent stolen, but that I didn't get into an accident because of the 3 faulty bolts.
I feel for you - and if I see any listings pop up in your area Ill be sure to let you know. It would be nice to have a C63 meetup with the guys that stole your wheels. Sh*t like this makes me wish I didn't have a nice car and wheels sometimes.

By the way, which mall is it?
Maybe I should install those regular wheel locks sold at MB parts for my stock 18" wheels. After all, similar to "club," at least it is somewhat of a deterrant to those thiefs who are not well prepared. Moreover, my stock wheels are definitely not as desirable as those HRE's. But then, of course I risk having them breaking my window.
Maybe we can all etch name/number unto the back of the rims. So when someone comes across the rims or signs of filing off the etching, then it's time for serious beat-down and street justice!
