Question about exhaust parts

Hi,

based on pretty good gains i've been thinking about long tube headers. I do however have a few questions.

1) Can they simply replace the old headers and be integrated to the old system?

2) Will it be louder? If so, how much? I've tried finding youtube clips but they all have had other parts changed as well so i can't really seem to grasp what only the headers would do to the sound.

3) Drone? Can't stand drone.....must not have drone

come on, 120 reads, no response. So many people on this forum with exhaust experience. I would really appreciate the help.

- WOT

MHP LT headers, no cats, Custom X.

The X pipe gives it more even and civilized tone. I highly suggest an X pipe with LT headers and no cats, it sounds like poo without. No drone at all.

It will be ridiculously loud and totally alter that great AMG exhaust note and make it sound like a deranged trumpet at WOT. After multiple iterations i have finally settled on my exhaust set up which is not too loud, deep and keeps cracke etc and that is headers, 100 cell cats, cross pipe (ie looks like an H rather than an X) and then resonators and stock AMG mufflers.
Headers really run the risk of ruining exuasht note, making car way too loud at WOT and making you the scourge of neighbours and passengers alike. I have found that the X pipe takes away the crackle and smooths out AMG exhaust note too much and the H pipe worked perfectly

I've also been advocating the H-Pipe. I like them both, but it seems people just over look the use of an H-pipe

to the OP.
We have a header setup that can mate our headers to your factory exhaust. So you don't have to go with a full mid-section. Which no matter what system you get will add to the total cost. Down side is you have to cut your factory system when you opt for only headers and no mid-section.

So is x pipe quieter than x pipe? What about power, does either make a difference?

I went with Kleeman short tube headers with high flow cats, sounds close to stock below 3K, lot louder above. Not as much hp gain as long tube but trade off was ability to hear the radio and I don't know every local state trooper by name.
