K&n's and delete charcoals(UPDATED)*********
Just installed initial reaction , great cold start up( nice bark) drove 200 K car felt great in c mode felt crisper better throttle response after 200 k I thought awesome no check eng light , as soon as I thought that, it came on
Car felt a little funny on the way home , is there reduced power when you get a cel? or is it my amagination
Ideas I've searched manifold ,purge valve lean codes blah blah.... but will power be reduced?..

I didn't notice any change when my cel came on. Let me know if you find a workaround to the cel with the k&n and cd, short of an ecu flash. I kept the cd but put the stock filters back in and my cel came on again. After one reset it has not come on again.

Hmmm so you have stock filters back in with no charcoal deleted the light and it's been fine ever since ?
Ther must be someone with cd , perf filters and row air boxes with no cel if there is let me know , and what the hell did you do ?
I have row boxes on the way so I will figure this out eventually

I unplugged, wait several minutes, and re-plug the ecu, it worked for me and cel didn't come back on. I removed charcoal and installed perf filters.

Make sure your airboxs are seted properly and your mafs are re connected. That usually the cause of the cel when this mod is performed.

The 09s are more prone to lean bank codes with the the carbon removed. I have tried mine with paper filters and K&Ns. If I remove the carbons it always throughs the code. If I put them back in the code goes away.

My car would not run right with CD and K&N's - oil on the MAF's. No CEL's but had a weird hestiation under low load when engine cold. Removed the K&N's, cleaned the MAF's and left the charcoals out and car ran great.

Ive had the K&N filter + charcoal delete for over 2 years with no problems.
Check if your filters are securely in place and your air box is fully closed.

Thanks for the reply AMG I triple checked the box tops but I guess I'll take it MB and get them to scan it hopefully it's a dam warr manifold loose problem or stupid purge valve I just hope it's not running lean
Stay tuned I'll keep you guys posted

I had the same issue with my 2008 C63 and the dealer cleared the codes numerous Times but the cell would eventually come back. Got fed up and put back the stocks and the filters and never had a problem. The car would hesitate and lurch under load in the taller gears like in fourth or fifth, it made me crazy. Apparently if the filters don't sit as snug as the OEM it creates a vacuum leak and then triggers the cel as the car runs leans.

I didn't put them back in after getting the Eurocharged tune. I know that they did not fit/seal as well as the stock filters but I think my problem was oil residue getting on the MAF's.

Similar issue, Kleeman Stage II tune with short tube headers, CEL with K&N and CD. Put stock elements in (no charcoals), runs great. Still get the CEL about every month, always scans the same (lean at idle bank 1). May try putting charcoals back in, but dealseship claims they don't have a part number for them. Odd.

Update to my check eng light , brought it in and MB replaced the evap purge valve , checked with the tech and it was definatly running in safe mode , codes cleared and back on the road . Cars running fine for 3 weeks , long drive on the freeway and when I pull off ... Another ch eng light take it in and I mention about the intake manifold coming loose problem I read about , advisor takes me seriously and recommends a full intake leak test ! Bang they find two leaks in the front of the manifold , replace gaskets and new and improved bots and retorque , all fixed under warranty , and the car has never ran better
Over all an excellent dealership experience . Very very professional
Now I feel confident in installing Row airboxes and perf filters

The better solution is the ROW airboxes which have no charcoal filters and wider intakes. Never use an oiled air filter. They are more trouble than they are worth (an ancient technology also). There are several synthetic material dry air filters that are much better.
