Let's see all the c63's on H&R springs (or anything)

What do you think about the options out there:

1) Springs, not too much of a drop, but improved spring compression rate compared to stock, but does the ride become too harsh (sometimes my car has 4 grown adults)?

2) Coilovers, adjustable ride height but not adjustable compression rate, is there really an advantage ride wise compared to just springs which are cheaper and easier to install (I'm not looking to dump the car but just lower it, although I'm considering upgrading to 19" aftermarket wheels which may be an advantage for coilovers)?

3) Lastly, full suspension like KW V3, much pricier, fully adjustable (maybe overkill for what I want) but the though of adjustable ride and ride height is appealing, I'm must wondering if it is truly worth it.

I look forward to any feedback posted!

Great post, look forward to some answers for you!!

I have a question about rear spring pads, I have read ppl talking about stock rear spring pads, 13mm spring pads, and 17mm spring pads.

So I am wondering what the stock spring pads are?

Thanks!!

The stock spring pads are 13mm I believe. If you want to raise the back up a little so it looks more even with the front then you can replace the stock pads with the 17 mm pads.

Thanks for the info Mort!

What do you guys think

If with stock springs my wheels have a rub with 2 adults in the rear seats on big dips, are the hr springs stiff enough that it would not rub if 2 adults were in back when installed with 17mm pads??

What are your guys guesses?

Thanks

If you rub at stock height w/ 2 adults in the rear... you will definitely rub more after the drop. Your ADV offset is too aggressive in the rear.

Hi guys. Just came across this thread as I'm looking into dropping my C63 AMG also. Quick question if I may for those who have done it.

I'm running the 19" multi spoke wheel. I'm going to be getting the H&R Spring set (20mm drop all round). The question is, after the drop what spacers can I run front and rear without any rubbing or fouling issues? I was thinking of running either 10mm front and rear or 10mm front and 8mm rear.

I just want to fill the arches right up after the drop to avoid that sunk in look with the wheels but I don't want to contend with any rubbing issues.

Please let me know what has been tried and tested spacer wise with the H&R lowering spring set

Thanks

Assuming u r running stock size tires, u can run 12mm front & 10mm rear w/o rubbing on H&R springs. That's what I'm running with my multispoke 19's.. Look here for pics:

https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...ntinues-6.html

P.S I believe member oszlowa is running 15mm front, which is probably the max u can go.

Brilliant thanks Roswell

Got to say, your car is looking lovely... Both sig pics look amazing!

I think I'm going to follow your advice and go with the 12mm up front and the 10mm on the rear. I need that stance on my car!

Im running the standard Front - 235/35/19 and Rear - 255/30/19. So with these tyre sizes, H&R 20mm spring kit and 12mm front and 10mm rear spacers I'll be fine w/o any rubbing issues then?

Thx for the compliment.

Exactly correct, this set up will not rub.. At least not on my 2010. Remember to buy extended lugs 40mm (or 37mm at the minimum) for safety measure.

Very welcome.

Perfect, mines a 2010 as well so should be spot on

Yes I'll remember the longer lugs, 40mm ones. Did you buy new locking wheel nuts also or re-use you existing ones?

The oem locks are too short (27mm).. U need extended ones., this is the one I bought :
https://mbworld.org/forums/5509949-post93.html

Edit: looks like the eBay link is now dead.. But yeah, u will need 40mm locks.

Actually... One last quick question as you seem to be the man in the know!

Do you reccomend getting the 17mm pads for the rear suspension or keep the 13mm ones?

It's really up to u, our cars sits lower in the rear, so I felt the need to even out the drop. Plus I'm running aftermarket wheels with aggressive offset & wider tires than OEM, so I wanted to avoid rubbing by raising the rear 4mm.

If u r only using ur OEM wheels with 255, the stock pads will work & look just fine.

Okay cool I think I'll leave the standard pads in there then. 4mm is such a small amount anyway I doubt it'll even be noticeable...

Again Roswell, appreciate all the input and your guidance on this. Your a gent.

Take and thanks

Ur welcomed Sam, hope you will be happy with the end result, and dont worry if you get a bit of rubbing... no harm will be done to your car, plus it's an easy fix... burn your 265/30 & get 255/30 afterwards. LOL

And agreed with Shane, post pics of your drop... same applies to simontrayler.

Char AMG, it's all about preferences... if you like the flush look, then yes go for spacers... cheapest mod that will improve the look of your OEM wheels drastically.

To give you guys an idea, my 4 hubcentric H&R spacers + 20 extended lugs + 4 extended locks costed me less than 350$ can at my door. Really not bad if you ask me. :P

I'll definatley get a picture up when it's done gentleman. I'm picking it up tomorrow after some CF goodies have been fitted yesterday. Front splitter, wing mirror covers and rear diffuser. As mines a PPP+ car it already had the CF rear spoiler Thought it would tie in nicely with the CF interior pack it's got Love CF!!!

Over here in the UK, for my H&R springs, 10mm & 12mm spacers, x16 40mm wheel bolts & x4 40mm locking wheel bolts, 17mm shock pads, the price is £520. Bargain. Then 4 hours to fit the bits. Well worth the £'s judging by pictures of Roswell's car

Quick question on the wheel bolts guys... What bolts did you order?? 14x1.5x40mm with R13 ball seating?

Roswell, sorry to be a pain buddy... My parts guy has confused me on the wheel bolt issue for the car.
He's said I'd only need need bolts with 35mm thread length. I told him I've had it on good authority that I'd need 40mm. He's advised me to check in with you to double check. He believes your saying 40mm total bolt lengths, including the head of the bolt.

So to clarify, if I may, are you talking 40mm total bolt length including the head, or do I actually need bolts with 40mm worth of thread and then the head on top?
