To know how many mm u need on the lug bolts, all u need to do is add the length of the spacers to the length of the oem lug bolts.

For our cars:
OEM lugs (27mm) + front spacers (12mm) = 39mm .. So 35mm is 4mm shorter than ur OEM u have right now, which I think is unsafe.

OEM lugs (27mm) + rear spacers (10mm) = 37mm .. So 35mm is 2mm too short. We can debate as 2mm will make a difference or not, but I decided to go 40mm all around w/o problems.

What u have to worry about is the 40mm on the rear might hit ur abs sensor (I don't have that problem).. If u have that problem, u can either machine 2-3mm off the rear lugs or look for 37mm for the rear (I couldn't find any at the time).

Btw, Simon u will know if ur extended lugs hit ur abs sensor right away.. U will hear a clicking sounds in the rear when ur wheels rotate.

Thank you Roswell! I thought that's what you'd say and did look at the specs and saw our standard lugs were 27mm, so I can understand the workings on needing 40mm to be safe.
I'll call the silly man tomorrow and insist on lug bolts with 40mm of thread from the lug bolt head seat to the tip.

I'll also advise my mechanic to listen out for the clicking should they be a mm or two too long. I'm sure they'll be fine though

Thanks!

just leave the car jacked up with the ebrake off and rotate it by hand, you'll hear it immediately.

Will do, thanks. I certainly wouldn't drive it without testing it first. Better safe than sorry.

Cheers guys

Exactly like noodleman said, spin the wheels & u will hear it Simon. Sand/shave a bit off if u need it. Very easy fix, and safer than running a lugs that is 2-4mm shorter than OEM.

Just managed to reach my parts guy on his mobile. I think I need to change parts guys, lol.

He can't seem to grasp it physically needs 40mm of thread, lol. He's on about 35mm total length again. God he's hard work!! 35mm total length would give 15mm thread, if that, total thread! would hold the wheel on for long.

It's 40mm total thread/shank length with the head on top.

Remind me to not let him work on my car himself, lol

I think when the manufacture states 40mm, it's the thread area length.. Not including the heads as every company has different heads on their lugs. Just my guess though.

Got my H&R springs installed today, here are a couple crappy iphone pics. Excuse my poor photography skills. Car looks great,so far no rubbing but the drivers rear side seems to be sitting a tad lower than the passenger rear side not sure if this is normal. I went with the oe spring pads, front seems still high compared to rear. Ride quality is a little bit stiffer and I feel the imperfections in the road a little more. Anyways here are the pics.

Looking great Sam! And don't worry about the difference in height from right side to left side, my car is the same. I feel the passenger rear is a lil higher than the driver rear.. But believe it or not, I was rubbing on the passenger rear & not driver rear.

Plus, give it a week of driving & the springs will settle a bit lower. Once settled the front will still look higher than the rear.. That's why ppl are using the thicker rear pads to even out the drop.

I'm glad to hear u r not rubbing.. Good job!!

Sam is the man, super quick!!

I don't think he has spacers on the rear cuz the BBS CH-R are already aggressive at 19x9.5 +45mm .. But I think he could use a 5-8mm spacers in the front as I believe the CH-R comes in 19x8.5 +45mm which is a bit sunk in.

Roswell, your wheel addiction/knowledge astounds me! Your going to need another garage for your wheels in years to come!
I've toyed with the idea of getting new rims, but I do really like my multi spokes... Mine are the black multi spoke with diamond cut/polished lips. They look v.nice on my calcite white car. Blends with all my CF very nicely!

When you say Sams super quick, I presume you mean the car. What's he done to it just out of interest?

I mean Sam is quick at getting things done.. He was toying the idea of lowering his car not so long ago.. And BAM, here she is dropped. Lol

Simon, let's trade multispokes. The black ones are growing on me, and I'm not even a black wheels type of guy. Lol

Front offset of the BBS CH-R is et42 I believe. Thanks for the kind words Roswell, you have been a great help since I got the car.

Ahh right, got you, lol. Same with anything car related for guys like us I recon... Our heart wants it, so we get it done and paid for quickly before our minds and sense kick in. Impulse is the only way to get things done, lol.

Yes the black ones are very nice... An expensive extra from Merc at around £1500 on top. Fairly reasonable for what you get though. They do set off a white car nicely.

I think the amount it would cost to courier them to you, you could buy as set, lol

No problem Sam.. I think u r right, the front might be around 40-42mm offset I don't remember. I was just looking at ur pic above & it looks like u can use 5mm spacers for better flushness.
