C63 Steering Wheel Wear?
Hi and greetings from a newbie,
I have just bought a C63AMG that one year old here in the uk and it has a half alacantra (suede affect) steering wheel, Now on my BMW CSL these would wear through at the 3 oclock position where my hand sits, Now bmw would replace these under warrenty no problem,
Does Merc do the same or will i have to buy a wheel and have it redone myself when it wears out or are merc better wearing than BMW?
Also any tips to improve my car? its a performance pack + if that helps
I look forward to hearing from you.

MBWorld Fanatic!
I'm interested in hearing what MB will do. I have heard similar (one owner mentioned a previous Lambo) but not yet with a MB. Nevertheless, I started holding mostly the non alcantara part of the steering wheel since that time.

I cannot understand why AMG have fitted a part alcantra wheel to the P31 C63.....I mean it's a sort of a cloth/suade/velour....whatever.....it's gonna wear/flatten out with continual hand moisture/handling etc....we're thinking of getting driving gloves so it won't wear out......should have left it full leather.

i would think it would be the leather portion that is more suseptable to wear???
i know old leather steering wheels start to look all shiny from the oil from your hands over the years and theres no cleaning it off. it just loses that nice matt finish of new leather... alcantara , i would think, even when it wears, you wont really be able to tell???
although the alcantara isnt very good for grip. i find my hands slipping sometimes.

Anyone swap a facelift steering wheel for the old models? I really want to do this. There was another thread but people commented on the airbags not deploying properly and I wasn't sure if that issue had been fixed.
