C63 Backup Camera

I am getting ready to install an aftermarket camera, however I am curious to know which hole the OEM camera is installed in the rear trunk lid and what it looks like.

If you have a C63 with an OEM backup camera could you do me a huge favor and take a picture of it.

Also if anyone has installed or removed an OEM backup camera what type of connectors does it have on it?

I have found pictures of the OEM camera but they all have foam covering the connectors like its some big mystery.

Do yourself a huge favor and install it into the hold closest to the middle. Don't install it the the right side (Factory Location). You will have a more centered look on your screen when you activate the camera.

Got any idea on why they have two holes to begin with?

Also I doubt they will be prewired from the factory in 2008 any ideas where I can look to find out.

Who is doing your installation and how much is it supposed to cost? I've been debating getting this myself.

Well the camera is $999 from mercedes in canada, however I was able to get a great deal on an oem one for a tenth of that.

I bought an aftermarket camera and fakra connector which cost under 40 dollars I was going to install it myself tomorrow but now that I got the OEM camera... I need to find or make the other OEM wiring.

The aftermarket camera is really easy to install. OEM one isnt so simple.

Mine is an aftermarket and installed on the L.H.S. of the license plate light. My car is also a left hand drive as well, will take a few pics and post them later.

I just recently installed a backup camera in my 2009. I got the kit from Nav-Tv. It works pretty well but I don't like the camera I got.

It's basically one that replaces one of the license plate lights. It's nice that's OEM-looking but the field of view is so distorted that unless something is directly behind you, it's impossible to tell how far away it is. I may switch to a different camera.

hey Watchbeat...what camera is that you have pictured? I'd LOVE to have those guide lines!

Watchbeat camera can be purchased on ebay its not an oem camera but looks close to the oem camera style.

Mine is very OEM looking too, it replaces one of the license plate lights so it's a real easy install. However, I don't have those nice grid-lines in my view or the steering angle lines. I would LOVE to have that!

But the steering angle works too?? If it does, I need that camera! I would guess that it somehow needs to be linked into the can-bus system to pick up steering angle.

The kit I bought was from NAV-TV...I'll have to ask them.

I took the entire trunk apart this afternoon I could not find anything that indicated that the car would be prewired for oem... I took the radio out to check and there is nothing plugged in so I thought I would test out my fakra connector I put together and the aftermarket camera. Now to wait on my oem camera and find out more about the install... I am guessing there might be one person who knows what else I need I'm guessing Mbenznl

I was working between the rain drops all afternoon

It's just an aftermarket camera that I have here. I have upgraded to a touch screen GPS system (A lot user friendly than stock) and the camera is connected to this GPS module.

For further details, I will need to ask my tech because I am not an expert.

Andrew....when you turn your steering wheel do those guidelines move??

This is what I'm trying to find out. I already have my camera working just fine, but i don't get my steering angle like that!

Also, you just plugged the camera into your radio like that and it worked?!

I didn't try moving the steering wheel but I highly doubt they move, based on the fact there is a only three wires hooked up. Are you sure they are supposed to move with the OEM camera? or do they just look like they are moving because the car is in motion then?

Technically all you have to do is plug it in and enable backup camera. Aftermarket its so simple... however the OEM camera seems really complicated.

Hi Guys,

So I'm new to here.
I have the same question that how do I install OEM camera to my 2014 C63.
Some told me it's not compatible with my radio 20 after checking my VIN, another tech told me I just need to have COMMAND system installed in order to have it working.

Please advice and thanks in advance.
