What is the best Radar Detector

I just bought a V1. It's very sensitive, and alerts to almost everything, but the arrows are priceless( I also have the volume set to medium and low for for the 'muted' volume. My V1 beat my friends 9500ix in 4 instances where his never even alerted. 2 Speed Camera's and 2 Speed Vans

That is a loaded question. I have an Escort Redline which is supposedly (sp?) one of the most sensitive on the highway. I just drove back from Phoenix today and was on the open highway and had a Ka reception at about 6-7 miles off-axis (with rolling desert landscape) because the road curved slightly by the time I reached the stationary trooper. After a couple of miles into it, I thought he was behind me (the Valentine One would have been great with the arrows) so I turned the detector to face the rear and signal went flat so then I knew it was up front.

In a nutshell, the Redline is more sensitive than the V1 and falses less. The V1 has arrows. I've used a Redline since it was released and drive 25K+ highway miles per year. I've been zapped many times by Ka and have gotten usable warnings in EVERY instance, so no tickets, knock on wood. Not to demean the virtues of the V1 but IMHO the Redline is currently at the top of the RD performance game.

I got the escort IX because it uses GPS to filter out known falses and you can add falses to its library by a press of a button so it doesn't bug you every time you pass the same false. the CI in the bumpers with mid city integration with the benz is most likely better because it has laser shifters. I just got tagged on the highway by a laser and it didn't make a peep.

Not sure how other detectors react, but my V1 has TONS of false alarms. The laser is just about worthless. When it goes off, I look for an Infiniti or Lexus rather than a trooper. And if it is a trooper's laser, the V1 just basically told you that you got tagged and it's time to pull over.
But what's probably more annoying is the false alarms from all these parking sensors and dystronic cruise controls on audi's, BMW's and even Mercs. My BIL was behind me today in his E550 and the V1 went off the entire time. Audi's are the worst.
I need to read up to see if there is a way to minimize some of that. My local constables use the older K band so i have to keep that active.

AMG C63 Affalterbach Edition
another advantage of the Redline is that it has "stealth" technology that is supposedly immune to Spectre radar detector-detectors [this post for informational purposes only]

Hey guys, I have a Valentine too and I agree there are to many false alarms! Since the x-band isn't really necessary and is never really a cop (just a headache) I thought it would be easier to just turn the x-band off completely. Here is the video I used to do so pretty easy.

I have a 9500ix and I dont like it very much. A lot of times it doesn't even catch cops and I've been hit with laser twice without my radar even making a sound. A lot of people have been having problems with their radars not connecting to their computers. I purchased the three-year software upgrades and after the third upgrade, it stopped working. Now I am stuck unless I want to be around $300 to get a refurbished one. Their customer service isn't the best and did not try to help at all. They all kept recommending that I use a unfiltered cord which has no effect on my radar. This is the only radar I've ever used to I can't compare it to any others but I might just be getting a Valentine.

I was under the impression nothing short of a jammer will help you against laser....once it detects the laser, you've been tagged, too late.

Thanks for the great info guys. From the posts above it seems that its really a competetion between the valentine and redline and they seem to both work great.
Do you guys know which stores carry them. I am curently in Chicago. Or do I have to order them online?

If it's Escort just order from them directly. When it comes to service they treat you better if you buy direct. Plus, you're guaranteed of getting the latest firmware if there has been an update.

Would love to see that, from someone truly independent. If you have access to the radar/laser guns themselves to perform the test that would be awesome!
Everything I've seen has been radardetector.whatever "oh we are independent, sure" type stuff.

I have a 9500xi and love it. The GPS auto save library is priceless. Did a ton of research on V1 and decided to go with Escort because of all the false indications. Wish I had arrow indications but at the end of the day, I want reliable alarms!!

In Qatar we have those mounted speed radars that would automatically flash when you pass by them speeding. A radar detector would ring as I approach them. I will put both in my car and record a video that shows which detects quicker on 4 or 5 diffrent radars
