A transmission question

Is there any difference in the performance of the transmission driving in C and using the paddles at random versus putting the selector in Manual? If so what is the difference. 2012 sedan.

IMO, yes. Using the paddles in C mode results in slower shifts as opposed to using the paddles in M mode. Maybe I'm out to lunch but I am certain there is a difference.
