Help with Check Engine Light Pleaseeeee

So today i was driving to the car wash when a few miles down the road i noticed my check engine light came on. No Error messages, just the light. So i decided to stop by the local Advance Auto Parts to use their code scanner. Oddly enough the scanner won't link to the AMG..Weird? I tried multiple times to scan it over and over and no luck. Well i went to Autozone instead. They hooked it up and the same issue. Error To Link to vehicle.

I don't know what it could be honestly. I know the weather has been crazy hot lately, but i drove the car all day yesterday in 100+F and it drove fine.

Is there an alternative way to check the code or maybe reset the light completely? As of now i am taking it to the service tomorrow afternoon and let them see if they can connect to it and figure out the issue.

The car however seems to drive just fine, shifts fine, and starts without problems. No hesitation what so ever.

Anyone experience similar issues like this?

see thread Actron scanner not working for MB

My Actron CP9325 didn't work either, but the 9125 works. I think it was like $50.

Why are these Cars having this CEL issue..This is ridiculous..For a hand built motor things like these shouldn't be happening..Its frustrating. Im so close to trading this car in and going back to BMW

Most CEL codes are emissions related which burns a steady light and the car is running fine. If you bought the 09 used, there very well could be exhaust modifications or even a software tune by the previous owner. Serious issues usually cause the CEL to blink rapidly in which case it's time to call a tow truck. No car is perfect especially in the age of electronic engine management but there are very few documented cases of catestrophic failure especially considering how hard these cars are pushed on the street and at the track.

I use this code reader from Harbor Freight and it's under $100. Any modification even just removing secondary cats will cause an occasional CEL and this tool provides peace of mind and a way to erase the code.

PS: I would be surprised if your 09 hadn't already had the purge valve issue resolved in it's first year.

Doubt anythin is modified..the car was completely stock when i bough it..only thing on it now are some KN drop in filters and charcoal filters removed..an its been 2 months since that mod and never had a issue with it..i did previously have the gas cap
Problem..maybe it triggered it again who knows..

I owned a BMW once...never again. If you think your Mercedes has alot of CEL's and issues, BMW and Audi have significantly more problems, from my experience. Every car is going to have issues, especially something as advanced as a C63, but it shouldn't make you want to trade the car in. Thats kind of ridiculous to say...

I too am having issues with the CEL on my 09 C63. I was getting a loose gas cap error so the dealer replaced the cap but the CEL came on again a few days later... Frustrating.

If you haves samsung s2 or an iPhone, all you need is to download an OBD 2 application and the wireless connecting kit from Amazon. You should be able to read all engine codes.
