Are all Stage I ECU tunes about the same?

I am starting to crave more power for my 2012 C63 estate w/Performance Pack.....Anyone knows if all Stage I ECU tunes are the same?

I have been researching but have not found my answers. OE tuning, Eurocharged, Renntech, MHP etc are tuners with great reputations over in the US. However, shipping an ECU over there is not really my ideal solution...eventhough many can argue "its been done countless times etc"

Any ideas??

MKB is 1 tuning company I am leaning towards.... granted that its $$$$ to power of infinity.... but I can get the tune files done locally....

i think OE and Eurochaged both can send you a physical flashing device and email you tune files to flash onto your ECU without having it send the ECU to them.

I've got the eurocharged tune with programmer and it works like a charm! It's pretty straightforward and takes only a few minutes to flash from stock to tune or back to stock.

If you already have PP, you'd be hard pressed to feel much difference with any off the shelf Stage 1 map from any tuner. You're much better off in going with a custom dyno tune from a local tuner but even then, don't expect a lot more power until you start doing header & exhaust work.

I met Mike fro Eurocharged on Sunday and he told me they have seen noticble gains on the PP spec'd AMGs. Im going to have my car dyno'd next month and have the car tuned so we can see once and for all what gains there are to be had out of a P31 engine. I was thinking of just going from stock with the tune... then retuning once I have some exhaust work done. Im curious to see what Im running right now since my engine feels very strong!

^^

There have been owners who did dyno comparisons before only to find little to no gains on a PP C63. It'd be nice to know if they made progress and meaningful gains. Maybe Eurocharged's upcoming V4 map will address this.

^To add to the post above. I think a couple P31 cars did see gains on the dyno, but little to no measurable gain on the street or track when tune-only. So, it raised some eyebrows about the dyno results.

The sensation of the car being faster could be placebo, or could be simply from adaptations being reset... so "butt-dyno" feedback is usually taken with a grain of dalt...

To the OP - I dont know, but I would guess that a tune-only mod on a P31 car won't satisfy an itch for more power. Headers and a header-matched tune probably would. Or just get a blower and get it over with.

thank you all for the words of wisdom....

I am located in Asia.... sending my ECU to the USA for a tune will roughly take 2 weeks turnaround from what I have been told as US customs is going to inspect the damn part to ensure its not some 'terrorist' / 'bomb making' / WMD / or anything that might threaten national security.

Hence, such a long down time is definitely a NO NO for me.

You should be able to ship our ECU and get it back within a week, even if you are international. I did it in six days. That thing about customs is not true. Just don't declare a value of more than $100. You should be fine.

Why would you waste your time sending your ECU overseas and not being bale to drive your car when you can get the hand units shipped to you to flash tune your car from either Eurocharged or OE?

I'm based in Australia and it took less than a week for the hand unit to arrive from USA.

where abouts in Asia are you,

Eurocharged has a location in Hong Kong, or as mentioned above.. Eurocharged can ship you a programmer where you flash your ECU at home (all you need in an internet connection).

so if your in the HK area... go to their location, if your not in the HK area, purchase the programmer and flash your car at home (no hassle with shipping or having ECU lost)
