Code P0639... throttle body
Hey Guys,
Haven't been around in a bit, and it looks like things are about normal around here, for better or worse.
Anyway, I learned a little more about our throttle bodies over the last couple weeks.
First, the failure code for the driver side throttle body is Code P0639.
And second, they don't seem to fail all at once. The Dragon started dropping into limp mode a few seconds after a full throttle pull, and I was perplexed as to the reason. Of course I didn't think it was a hardware failure, but a tune issue, as the Weistec guys are still perfecting the Stage II setup on my admittedly finicky little girl. I couldn't have been more wrong. I did a code scan and got the one I mentioned, and no one (even my badass MB master tech) knew what it specifically was. Steve suggested it could be the throttle bodies, but I had my head up my *** and knew it was something else. Anyway the limp mode issue got progressively worse to the point where it would go limp on startup, and I had three active P0639s and 3 pending, so I was sure I was boned.
Long story short, Anthony let me borrow a spare throttle body and, sure enough, swapping it in cured the issue on the spot.
So there's that. A little knowledge for the kids. A big thanks to the Wesitec guys. And a badass blown Benz happily rolling along again.

Bringing a thread back from the grave, i have the same issue except its a p0638. Car is in limp mode, is there a sensor in the throttle bodies? Since you said yours was the drivers side, im guessing mine is the passengers?

turn your car off and on does the limp mode go away

mate i had this same problem as you but i turned my car off and on and it went away
I spoke to weistec and im waiting on this part https://www.ecstuning.com/ES1689028/ to arrive apparently they go bad

that loom is for the throttle bodies i had the same code last friday
message from weistec below
I'm sorry you are experiencing issues. We'll do our best to make sure they get sorted out.
That pending code is for one of the throttle body actuators.
While it is not common for the throttle bodies to go bad, we have seen several of the throttle body harness's go bad and cause throttle body issues. When this harness develops a short is causes throttle body codes and esc limp mode. Simply replacing the harness solves the issue
A rare issue we have seen a couple times is the airbox to throttle body coupler coming off the throttle body and interfering with the throttle blade. That would be something to check for. It would also be a good idea to check for any vacuum leaks with a can of brake parts cleaner

I really need to speak to you
I too too have a misbehaving weistec stage two 09 C63.... so there’s at least to of us on the planet
im also having an issue but did t recall the codes my star tech guy found barring there were a few
but my problem tho not exactly the same feels similar
my car starts fine.... idles fine.... revs fine
but almost as soon as I pull away she will stumble and I get a misfire on the whole drivers side bank ... multiple misfires (uk car right hand drive)
then i stop... restart ... idles fine and revs fine and as soon as I pull away etc etc etc
OK my tech says I need to replace a secondary O2 on the passenger side in order to get a fair scan but my misfires are on the drivers side and my car has no cats so I really don’t think he is correct.... just not logical
But what I’m thinking is .... For what ever reason could it be my drivers side throttle body that is closing when car is under load
I’ve cleaned maf’s, replaced IAT sensors, new weistec plugs, had injectors and coils checked, replaced scam position sensors
out of options
help

2009 Stage 3 C63 AMG
Reviving old thread.... I have stage 3 weistec c63 throwing same code. Have changed throttle bodies and wiring harness, still throwing code with rpm jumping up and down. Any suggestions?
