Service B Question

Hey guys. Quick question that I can't get answered, because all the service centers aren't open on Sundays, but I'm at the 70k mile mark in my car and the screen says that service B1 is due. Does anyone have a rough idea of what it'll cost and how long it takes? I want to take it in tomorrow, but need to know if I can wait there or if I should drop it off and come back again later to pick it up.

I just had mine done. Basically it's an oil change ($120) + the 2 air filters replaced. At 70k I recommend that you change your transmission oil (around $200)

Alright so it shouldn't take too long right? I believe I had a dealer quote me $550 when I called a few weeks ago, but I see this coupon online at a different dealer for "FSSB Service" for $382.95. Is this what I would be getting done?

I personally wouldn't go to the dealer for a service B. What I would do is go buy the parts I need from the dealer (oil, cabin filter + air filter) then go to any reputed shop and have it done in less than an hour. You'll save half of the money.

It's better to buy the parts by yourself to avoid wasting time waiting for them to arrive.

Nop, they just have to reset the computer. I'm not sure how to do it but it's in the manual. If you go to a mercedes shop, they know how to do it for sure.

actually just ended up searching for it and found it. well, this is gonna make things a lot easier. i guess i'll just call mercedes just to verify what exactly needs to be done for service B and go ahead and have it done myself.

Got quoted from the dealership for ~$400, went to an independent shop for ~$250.

Don't forget the transmission oil, it's not included in the service B but trust me you need it if you never had your oil changed.

Also remember to empty the oil cooler separately.
