Four Years of Ownership: A Summary
Posted this at the tailend of another thread and then realized it would probably be buried.
My car was ordered in April 2008, when even the ordering guide was somewhat of a mystery to the sales department. Truth be told my wife initiated the process but had ordered a black car which I was not about to have to maintain. After having the salesman line up several different color C300's it was Mars Red all the way. At that time I was sure the car was worth the $65,000 or so that I was paying sight unseen with no discount available other than a package of 5 service visits for $1,000.(still have one left)
Now 4 years later, I am certain of the car's "value". It has been the most enjoyable car that I have ever owned, far surpassing any previous M car, Vette and even my 78 Trans Am which I had regretted letting go for over 20 years until the "Red Rocket" came along.
The car has been virtually trouble free, interior is pristine and sounds like a vault going down the highway unless you wake the beast, still functions as a daily for my wife who absolutely adores the WOT experience and refuses to let me quiet down the car so we can take it to AMP in December.
Over the years the car has seen its share of enhancements both cosmetic and performance related.
Tune and headers came early taking performance to the realm of much more expensive cars.
Quaife differential , H&R springs, 2 Piece rotors, track pads, Sparco seat and a set of Forgestars with DOT slicks elevated it's road course capabilty. It is still much too heavy to be considered a "track car" but it has kicked butt in the HPDE world up too but not including the expert run group.
Dad's carbon hood and DTM style bumper give the car a unique look that again elevates the car for many people. I see people taking pictures as they drive by on a regular basis including this clip I found from someone else on You Tube.
More important than everything else is the fact that through this car I have met so many new enthusiast friends including Keith and many others. My entire social circle evolved as this new group of friends began to occupy more and more of that most valuable commodity: "time". In my mind this car is "priceless" based on the 4 years of enjoyment and experiences that came about from making this purchase with many more still to come.
PS. Nothing like "dancing" with a friend at 100mph

Very well said. Someone who gets it. Very few cars out there that can match the visceral feel that the NA 6.3 motor provides. Yeah, this and that is faster, cheaper, quicker to 60, etc., etc., but I'll take my 63 any day of the week and twice on Sunday!

I am tearing up reading this. ((
Looking out on the driveway at my baby with the trunk gone and leaking front end...
I have the same feelings as you towards the car, since day 1, its been nothing but a pleasure. I've never owned a car so rewarding and fun to drive as this. Having ordered it brand new, its going to be a challenge to replace.

Very nice write up...appreciate you taking the time to reflect and letting us know your thoughts...
The car is well made. Materials are solid and the design that went into it obviously shows thought and direction.
Great car and forum has provided a wonderful experience and a boat load of knowledge and information...

I agree, the C63 is one great classic AMG. I usually start itching for a new car after a couple of years but my C63 is almost 4 years old! Its just a classic design, well proportioned and has held up well. Sure there are now even faster cars out there, but not substantially and still doesn't have that glorious scream the C63 has. The C63BS looked like my next car but in reality, I love the stealth that the 4door C63 has, and I really use the back seat for my kids. I used to stuff them in my 997 but they're getting to big for that!

hhughes1..Great write up, thank you....I hope I will as happy as you are after 4 years of ownership. I hope I am, because with the Aussie price being around THREE TIMES what you paid, I'd wanna be, wouldn't I?
Cheers, Pickles.

I never regretted the purchase of my C63 at any time. I drove all the comparables (RS4/M3/CTS-V) and i always new I picked the best car I could get at that time.
The most awesome part of getting my C63 was joining this forum and getting to share everything and learn everything about the cars with guys who love it just as much as I do
Awesome brotherhood in here with the baddest fleet of rides anywhere
