I believe an AWD 5.5TT would be a good GTR chaser.

Why do you have top tease me?!?!?!

I stopped by an AMG Performance Center yesterday and asked them if they knew anything yet and of course the answer is no.

Now I need to see how far they would go with upgrading the car and keeping it under warranty. The one guy said a tune wasn't out of the question which got me thinking I should go in there next week and speak to them about installing headers under warranty.

Order up!

Nothing is going to touch the GTR unless its AWD so it would be a smart decision.

C63, C55 (Sold)
Does this means that the W204 C63 will be the last with the N/A engine and rear traction?? Wow! I don't know if the new one will be great, yet, but the actual one will become a classic guys...

You guys are talking as if it is going to really happen. Do you know something we don't?

After reading the article more carefully, it does say they will have the 5.5tt, but I thought there was another article which said they might, but it hasn't been decided. If this is for real I will be waiting for sure.

For theme they are supposed to get lighter, possibly smaller, smaller motor (hey, they could do the 5.5 non turbo like the slk since it will be lighter), and possibly 4matic as Mercedes has been saying their newer systems do not add much weight and they would like to make the system more of a standard across more of their range to increase safety...

So basically nobody knows anything as they are making decisions now that could still change

I really don't know anything about any kind of time frame. I do know it will happen though. Its inevitable if any company wants to compete with the GTR.

The GTR has, put simply, smoked anything in the 80-90K market purely due to an amazing automatic transmission and AWD. Any company not seriously looking into AWD technology for their sports cars is living in the stone age.

Personally, If I owned GM I would have made the C7 Vette an AWD DCT. Nothing would come close to it.

I thought the whole reason they couldn't put the 5.5TT engines was because of chassis issues due to all the torque. They have to work out a completely different chassis and Im guessing the AWD will help but I think all these new additions the price might go too high.

I thought I had read somewhere that the W205 body is going to be slight longer and wider than the W204.

Maybe that will help with chassis issues?

Yes
The spy pics we've seen before showed a lengthened hood which led many to speculate it was the 5.5tt in the w204 modified chassis.

All of the above just means more $$$....but if c63 sales and BS sales are telling MB anything, it's that we are willing to pay. Heck, awd and TT? I'm in for a bit more, sure.

Having owned two corvettes, one z51 and a z06, the thought of an DCT only AWD vette makes me want to throw up.

I'll enjoy being slower banging that perfect 1-2 and 2-3 shift, and leaving a big ol' smokey burn out.

I would like the C63 to get the 5.5TT, but still would like it to be RWD.

If I want AWD, I'll go the route of a P car.

(a)'12 C63 P/P, LSD, 19" m/spoke,comfort pack. (b)Astra SRI.
Question

As far as any "new" C63 is concerned, when AMG are designing this car, & for sure it's probably already been "designed", IMHO, the last thing they'll be thinking about is a GTR, which is a totally different vehicle, & certainly not a direct competitor for the C63.
Cheers, Pickles.

C63 + TT and AWD? I've been dreaming about that powertrain combo for this car since it came out! Sounds like the potential for GT-R levels of performance with MB refinement and luxury.

Only time will tell but, man, you could sign me up now!

I hear ya. I have a Z06 and its fun to drive. I was speaking from a pure performance perspective. If given the option however I bet 90% of Vette purchasers would go with the AWD + DCT for the performance alone. If GTR is able to pull a 2.7 0-60 in a 550HP 3900 pound car imagine what a ZR1 would do with 650HP and 700 pounds lighter with AWD.

Big ole smokey burnouts are fun when you want them, but they sure do suck when I am sitting in my Z06 and a GTR pulls 3 cars on me off the line. Also chewing through $1000 in rear tires every 3K miles is no fun either. Almost every Z06 driver I know runs Drags on the street because its so bad. Maybe AWD and keep it a manual would be fun.

Dont get me wrong, the Z06 is scary fast, but the GTR off the line is just blazing suck your eyeballs into the back of your head fast.

Not when they decided to make a coupe. Soon as you go coupe you are looking to beat or compete with the M3 and the GTR in my opinion. Otherwise keep the 4 doors and stay on top in your class.

M3?....Agree.
But GTR?...No.....because, IMHO it's a totally different sort of car......I've never owned one, but I've looked at 'em & I've driven one...and for sure.....AN ABSOLUTE WEAPON....and it'll ALWAYS be quicker than any C63 type car....in any situation...but drive one for a thousand ks, which is what we do sometimes, and I know which car I'd rather be in.
The GTR is a true Sports car.....it can be compared with the likes of Porsche, (it was designed to compete with/beat the Turbo, was it not?), but it doesn't have much in common with a C63.
Would you say that the GTR is a competitor to your ZO6 (awesome machine by the way!)?...Again, I don't think so.
Cheers, Pickles.

They won't let the C63 out perform the SLS, so highly doubt an AWD TT C63.

I doubt they will put the 5.5 TT in the new C63....i'm sure they will draw the line at the C and go with something smaller and more fuel efficient...like a jacked up version of the 4.6 TT in the 550's....and keep the 5.5 TT for the $90k +++ cars....

We're all just guessing but you can use what the competitors (BMW/Audi) are doing as a reference.

I think what sounds even better is the possibility of an E63 coupe with the 5.5TT, coming just after the facelift next year.

Has this been confirmed? Are these actual photos? Are the rear fender really that flared?!

They're photoshops. The E is getting a facelift, the headlights will be different. The red car pic is a mix of the current E coupe and CLK BS.
